More warning lights

Less than 500 miles on my 75th and today the dash is telling me “Service Stability and Service Trailer Brake System” Will call the dealer tomorrow, hoping it is related to the flashing axle unlock light and needing a new front sway bar mechanism.

In other notes I had the dealer calibrate the speedo for my 35” duratrac tires but today I measured them and they are only 33.5” probably explains why I am seemingly going faster than the speedo reads. Tried a procal snap but it just flashes the blue light so I guess it won’t work....I am growing weary

Originally more warning lights came on things like “4wd disabled (something like that) and things like it couldn’t recall my memory settings. I think about all the warning lights were on. All that seemed to go away but the two remain

They're all connected. Speed sensor goes, abs comes on,. TCS comes on 4x4 won't engage all sorts of stuff goes wonky.

Thanks. I am feeling a bit disappointed at the moment, it’s almost like the vehicle shipped out with these problems. The axle unlock light was flashing at 20 miles, I purchased it the next day after it was delivered to the dealer

Sometimes all it takes is a reflash and a new part. You might be problem free for the rest of time after it's sorted. Fingers crossed.

its a sad time in automobile history. unfortunatly incompetant vehicle owners have brought all these nannies and warning systems upon themselves and thus everyone suffers in the end. traction control, locker nanny, swaybar nanny, tpms, parking sensors, neutral safety switches, daytime runnig lights.......the sea of idiots have forced manufacturers to impose all that garbage

Ive had a service 4wd and service esc or something like that. Truck wouldn’t engage 4wd. Was a $2 fuse the dealer found in the line. Hope yours is a quick fix. Nothing like paying for a new truck to be in the shop. Sorry you are dealing with this

At the dealer now... Sounds like this was probably caused by adding the 35” tires and having the dealer change the settings for 35” tires BUT the duratrac 35s only measure 33.5” so the computer is set for 35 and they are actually 33.5”

The tech has been calling trying to get an answer so I guess it isn’t as easy as just adjusting the setting back to 33.5”

They are trying to recalibrate it but the BCM will not take the changes so they are disconnecting the battery 15min let it reset, drive it and run a report then call the master tech at Ram and report back the findings. Hope this solves it

FAST PULSING BLUE: There has been an error in programming. Turn the radio off. Use the Instrument Cluster Display Control Buttons to navigate to AUDIO. Record the error message and contact AEV support with the information shown.

also is it flashing fast or slow? it probably just never paired which sometimes takes more than once going thru the proper sequence.

Yes there was no message in the Audio. I am done with that AEV thing I don’t have patience to f around with this stuff. Just leave the tires at 65psi and be happy with it

if no message it was probably just not done correctly. probably just needed to pull it out and plug it in again and start over. are you sure the harness was plugged in properly?

Yes I got the 1 and 9 hooked up and the other end plugged into the green. The Procal did calibrate the first time and gave me the 3 honks but none of the actual programming would work.

I disconnected the jumper last night so it is fully disconnected. Probably not going to try again (at least anytime soon)

Tech says that they think there might be a problem with this DJ (I assume that means 2021 model year Power Wagon) The BCM module won’t accept changes for tire size so once the truck senses the discrepancy it throws all kinds of codes. So I don’t know if something got changed from the 2020 Power Wagon.


They found another dealer who had this problem and are on the phone. Hopefully the other tech figured it out otherwise I am not sure where I am at...

I sold my stock 33” tires for $625 and paid $1,550 for the 35” The tire store has the stock tires still so worst case I can go back to them but that is going to suck because I will have purchased 35” tires that I cannot use ($2,100)

The kicker is we are leaving for a cross country move on Thursday morning so there is urgency and I cannot risk pulling a trailer across country and into the mountains with a chance (probably will happen) that the abs system will shut down

I don't think dealers have been able to change tire sizes on 19 and up rams. they can on jeep gladiators but not rams.

Well they charged me $125 to (attempt to) do so last week.

What a nightmare, sitting at the dealer all day now when I really really need to be at home packing to move in two days

I actually feel the opposite. Having started my wrenching days on 20R engines with adjustable valves, carburetor, distributor, points, and an emissions system vacuum hose nightmare I gotta say that current day wrenching is greatly simplified by the electronics. In most cases it's a matter of pulling a code and replacing a part. The time spent searching for the problem is greatly reduced.

Similarly, I'm very grateful for things like ABS, stability control, collision avoidance, traction control,, and improved emissions. While I don't dispute the pleasure of occasionally driving an old-school analog automobile, for the majority of my uses I'm very happy to have the electronic comfort and assistance. Save my bacon more than once to be sure.

IMO, the downside isn't the electronics, it's the turnover and lack of training and experience of the people in the mechanical bays. There are often a dozen oil changers for every true mechanic. As Deming said, 'Every system is perfectly designed to get the results it gets'. In this case, the shop repair system is designed to allow a new mechanic to quickly repair a vehicle with the absolute minimum cost in training and shop time. This doesn't always play well when things get more complicated than what the computer says. And there aren't enough experienced mechanics in the shop to diagnose problems that live a layer below the surface diagnosis. But then we're also not willing to pay the shop rate that would encourage career employees to stay. Same as complaining about the pitch of airline seats when we show almost zero preference when booking. And so we're left with a system that solves the easy problems efficiently but allows the more complex to linger until there becomes sufficient motivation to really understand what's going on.

Engineer from Michigan is on the phone. Sounds like the 35” tire code is still on there with the new 33.5” tire measurement. They need to get the 35” removed. Keeping the truck overnight but sounds like they will get it solved I hope
