Thanks for the clarification. I suspected that was what you were saying but I've learned to ask questions before making any assumptions.
Yes, AlfaOBD has saved much grief for many users and also added the ability to customize certain features for others.
My LED lights were plug-and-play but I have tweaked a few other items and fine tuned settings so that my speedo is very accurate for both summer and winter tires. I live in snow country.
I've heard this story before. Everything works great until you start the engine, then the lights get erratic or drop out entirely.
As mentioned, I have no experience with the Morimoto product but if you're determined to keep them, you could try AlfaOBD.
AlfaOBD is an app available for Android or Windows. IIRC, I believe it's $49US.
You will also require an OBD2 interface. They're available as a Bluetooth or USB type connection.
Many users swear by OBDlink Mx+, a Bluetooth interface and many are happy to use their Android phone or tablet.
I hate Android and wouldn't trust it to modify truck settings, I use the windoze version with a USB interface.
I use an OBDLink SX interface.
My laptop OS is somewhat modified, that's the only reason I trust it more than any Android device.
AlfaOBD is very powerful, and can tweak many customized features but could also trash your truck if not used carefully and sensibly.
More than a few people have learned the hard way after just tweaking without researching first and/or not copying the OEM settings before changing items without recording their actions.
We have an AlfaOBD thread full of adventures and directions on how to protect your truck.
Please Read!!! Supported years: 2013 to 2018 Make a backup of your original BCM configuration before making any changes. While we have a few BCM configs to compare with, there is nothing like comparing to your own pre-changes. Instructions: Uploading System ID (BCM) Information: Thank you...
