I want to take the 318 5.2l v8 out of my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 and put it into a 96 Dodge Ram 1500 sport. The motor that is in the 96 is a 360 5.9l v8. Can the motor just go right in or will I have to take the wiring harness with it, or will the wiring harness to the 360 work with my 318?<br />

I hope this is the right thread to post this question. This is the first time I've ever been on this forum.

You're in the right place.

You'll just need the sensors and maybe the intake manifold from the old engine.

So will the 318 plug up with the wiring harness from the 360?

yes but you need to use the 96 intake or drill and tap a hole for the other temp sensor in the 2001 intake. Fuel injectors will also have to be swapped out as they have a diff connection between the years.
