I have a 2011, 5.7 with the engine management system. It runs great and I truly love the truck, first Dodge PU I've owned, but 11 mpg seems excessively bad. The only mods are the 35 inch tires on factory 20 inch wheels. Somebody please tell me there is something I can do to improve the mpg. Any constructive input would be appreciated.

That's as good as you will get around town ... you might get int he high 13s if you do a lot of freeway driving .. also if you have the stock gears, 3.21s, 3.92s , you are not going to get the correct MPG ....

With 35s you should really consider regearing to 4.56s if you want to improve on your MPG and also correct the speedometer if you haven't already ...

I have only had the truck a few months now. I was planing on replacing the 35 inch tires with 33s when they need replaced. Not sure how to go about finding out what gearing I have. I drive the truck very little in the summer, but will use it almost daily in the winter. Golf course, 15 miles of highway and small boat to the lake, 60 miles of highway. It has so much power I don't think re gearing would hurt around town performance, but might really help the highway mpg. I'll look into. Thanks

Go back to 33's & a highway tread if you are concerned with mpg........a lift & aggressive tread/heavy tire will cut 2-4 mpg is a fact......

Agreed, that is the problem. The lift kit and heavier 35" tires are killing your mpg. Lower the truck to stock height and return to 33" street tread tires to increase it.

Be careful about wheel and tire selection also. 17’s will be much lighter than 20’s (I’m currently in the midst of that swap). Tires are about a wash weight wise at 55lbs for LT tires.

You can get passenger tires if you’ll never go off pavement but buyer beware. They will be about 10lbs lighter per corner but you’ll be susceptible to flats much more.

This is my third Ram in 17 years. Have intake, exhaust and canned tune on a 2 wheel drive short bed truck. Gas mileage is 16 around town and 21.5 highway. I also have 392 gears and 265/70/17 tires. My son has 2014 Ram club cab 4x4 and got decent mileage until he went with 35 inch toyo's and a slight lift and leveling kit. He lost between 3-4 mpg. I guess the extra tire weight and lift raising the height of the truck really makes a difference. In my 17 years owning the rams only repairs made was one wheel speed sensor, that's all. No problems just really kept up with all the maintainance and used PUP synthetic oil. Total of over 220,000 trouble free miles and I tow a boat and camper. Best trucks ever and I have had Ford and Chevy trucks too.
