OK recently I straight piped my 5.2 v8. And its just too annoying now. I took it on a trip to Daytona fl and I hated it. Im in the market for one that has a deep rumble to it And sound good at hwy speeds (2000rpm) I am tired of the popping but I still want it some what loud when I floor it. Any ideas fellas? I still have the cat on it with 3" pipe and 5" tips.

I put a magnaflow on my 5.7. I like it not to much noise but a real nice rumble while cruising down the highway

I like the Flowmaster 40 Series, the original flow as the call it. Not that new deltaflow ********. From what I've heard as they drive by, I think it's right up your alley.

Magnaflow will give you a deep tone and its straight through design will flow the best.

A 14" would be perfect if you want louder, but not ear piercing.

Their oval universal muffler will work best, but you could use a round if you wanted to.

They're stainless so they may cost a little more, but they should last 100,000 miles +.

I put the Flowmaster 40 on my truck a couple weeks ago. Nice deep throaty sound outside and no drone inside. Its a 318.

Get rid of the stock single exhaust and converter altogther. Go with a set of headers and real dual exhaust, and use Dynomax ultraflow welded mufflers. They are straight through with no baffles, just like a glasspack or race muffler, so they won't slow your exhaust flow, only a lot quieter because they are the size of a standard oval muffler and filled with sound absorbing material. They produce a deep, mellow rumbling tone that's not overly loud except at wide open throttle, and without the crackling and popping associated with glasspacks or straight pipe. I always recommend these to anyone who wants the horsepower and fuel economy benefits of straight piped true duals without a loud, screaming exhaust sound. The sound level is similar to original flowmasters or turbo mufflers, but a little deeper in tone.

Yeah, a 318 will sound good and not too loud with those. The bigger the engine, the louder any straight through muffler will be. A 318 is on the smaller side of V8's, so they won't be bad under most conditions, especially if you run a full dual exhaust with tailpipes. We've put them on a couple mustangs and F-150 trucks with the 302 V8 which is also a small V8 and they weren't too loud on the street, but had a deep, performance sound.

Cherrybomb Vortex is a good one as well. Loud at full throttle, but quiet at cruise.

I personally have a Thrush Turbo and love it, but it doesn't flow as well as some of the louder mufflers out there. But hey, it was 27 bucks.
