originally was looking at the typical flowmaster 40 series. not getting to crazy with this truck as i have my jeep as the toy and the truck is daily and tow rig. just looking for deeper/ better sound. have heard a few people mention of a drone or annoying noise at cruising speeds once the mds kicks in. even the muffler shop mentioned it to me and said they would suggest the 50 series vs the 40. just getting opinions. not stuck in flowmaster either thats just only one i have used in the past

I had FM 40 on my tundra and put them on 2012 ram and loved them on both trucks and both were dual. I have not had any issues and love the sound, both at cruse and when i mash the gas!!!

I have a 40 series with mine, I don't have the MDS hemi, and holy sweet Mary does it drone. Only at like the 25 mph zone, which is mainly the limit on the streets by my house. All my friends say its the loudest thing they have heard. So it's up to you, my friend also has a 50 series on his, and it sounds just as great.

I love Flowmasters for sound. The 50 series Truck / SUVmuffler is fairly mellow if the normal 50 series is too loud for you. I have ran 40, 50, and 50 Truck / SUVs and the 50 gets louder over a short time. The truck / SUV did not. It was a SI/DO on a Chevy.

I've been running the FM 50HD muffler for over 2 years now and I love it. I hardly ever notice the drone or rather I probably just don't care to hear it. I'd recommend it if you want to be able to hear your truck loud and clear when stepping on it but still have little cab resonance while cruizing. Could also go with the magnaflow 18" as I believe that's their equivalent to the 50HD and the 14" is equal to the 40.

The magnaflows are a straight through design (unless you get the XL series) which offer better performance. If you like the hollow chamber sound, Magnaflow won't give you that.

I have flowmasters on my truck and Magnaflow on my G8. I prefer the sound of the MF's.

It's all about preference though. I think I'm going with a Solo Performance system on my truck.

Got my MF yesterday and installed it today. Sounds pretty good. It's a 24". Deeper tone than I thought it would be. I still prefer the sound of FMs but u can't beat the ease of install on the Mufflex. Thats why I did the MF. But guess what? It has a leak and I'm going to have to have it welded anyways so I shoulda just went with a FM. haha. I even cut the extra grooves in the ends where the clamps go and it still leaks alittle. No biggee. Seems to perform well, too. Pulls a little better than stock.

You can use some copper RTV to stop the leak. That stuff rocks!

Correct! It's not failed me yet. I've been told any 100% silicon will work, but the copper RTV is all I've ever used.

I have the 18" Magnaflow (Mufflex) and love it. After hearing mine, a friend bought the 14". I prefer the volume of the 14" but think the drone might get irritating on longer trips.

i have a 40 series and i love it, I opted out from doing a true dual seeing as my truck had a single exhaust to begin with so when the mds kicks in it is a very minor change in pitch with mine, not sure about the true dual trucks and as far as drone goes on the eway its not bad at all. It sounds great and I get people complimenting me on how it sounds all the time. I would def give it a 2nd looking into just my 2 cents.

I will be going with an open y pipe and headers soon enough for now I just went muffler back to dual ,slash cut tips at 45 degree angles

i have always been and still am a flowmaster guy. But, after getting this 24" magnaflow (for ease of install and probably better performance), I am very pleased with the sound of it on this truck. I have never heard a magnaflow that really "made my heart go flutter flutter" before. But this one sho do sound saweet. And its barely louder than stock at an idle. Just when u get on it. I stay in my camper when at work down south so i wanted a quiet muffler to not wake everyone up in the ole RV park ya know. I think anyone would be happy with a MF or a FM, just pick ur poison on loudness. Mine doesnt drone cuz mds is turned off

Flowmasters are great because they never change sound, but they don't flow the best! Magnaflow's are like a motorcycle aftermarket exhaust and are straight through. I've got 47,000 on my G8's Magnaflow system and it still sounds great.
