My 2019 Laramie is now worth 3k more than I paid for it new!

The truck market is crazy. For the first time in history a vehicle is gaining value instead of depreciating.
My trucks sticker was 54.3k. I got it for 47k. I went online to Kelly Blue Book and it estimated my trucks value at 53.3. An hour later I get a email from a Nissan dealership 60 miles away with a offer of 43k cash. I suppose the online estimator tipped them off. They want to make a quick 10k. Crazy! My truck is a 2019 Laramie with ramboxes. 5.7 Hemi, eTorque. 28k miles.

Yep, I sold my 2017 (that I bought used) a few weeks ago for nearly $3,500 more than I paid for it two years and 35k miles ago. Still waiting for my new factory order to show up but I couldn't pass on that offer.

The amount was so high it completely took out any consideration for the sales tax trade in credit, or shipping charges of the new truck. All covered with that crazy high offer I took.

A lot of people are taking advantage of the high trade-in values now happening (myself included). It allowed me to apply about $10k in equity I had in my 2020 Laramie (that didn't have some key options I really wanted) towards a 2021 Limited with the options I was missing. In other words, I was able to trade-up significantly with almost no impact on my budget.

I was able to pick up a 2021 Tradesman while I waited for my truck to be built. Sticker was 43,650 and I paid 37.5 (about 5.8k in options). It now has a 1,200 miles on it and I hoping I can get 38-39k. Still looks and smells brand new :Big Laugh:

That's awesome... I had a first on this one, got so much extra for my 17 that I'm going to hold onto 3 or 4 thousand. Usually I use any positive equity I have in the truck into my next down payment, but this time buying new with 0%, I'll keep a little extra in my bank account.

Estimated value is only good if you find someone willing to pay it. I just traded in my 2020 on a 2021. I got cash offers from vroom and carmax that were lower than the kbb est trade in value. Dealer beat the cash offers but no, I didn't get more than I paid. I did however get high enough value to upgrade from Laramie to Limited, start warranty over and feel perfectly comfortable with it.

My 16 only has 17900k and i still owe some, got it in 2019 with 5700k. Wonder what a dealer would give me, they rob ya over here.
Seems like anything color matched and leather is 60k! Atleast rebels and Laramies are around here.

Hey Cableman, long time! Check out carvana/vroom/autonation/carmax...you can copy/paste your vin and get a quote fairly easily from all of them. I ended up selling mine to AutoNation at their land rover location in Mt Kisco NY a couple of weeks ago. Never hurts to check what the numbers are!

Finding a new truck at a reasonable price on the other hand may be a different story.

I just traded my 18 sport quad cab 4x4 with just under 48,000 miles on it. I did the carmax and carvana offers ($35k sight unseen) and took those to a dealership that had a new 2021 I liked and they gave me $33,500, and I am fine with that because it pays it off and puts money down towards the new one.

It is quite crazy with the trade in values right now. About 3 weeks ago I traded-in my '18 Silverado LT Z71 Crew with 32k miles, and got $40k (only owed half of that) on the trade towards a '21 Laramie Crew Night Edition. I had paid $37k for the Silverado when I bought it. I remember when I had checked a year ago, my truck was worth roughly $27-30k trade-in. When I saw what Vroom, Carvana, CarMax, TrueCar, and KBB were roughly offering, it was a no brainer to trade-in the Silverado and get all kinds of features and options that I didn't have making the Laramie a good choice. I only did get $4500 off MSRP on the Laramie, paying roughly $60,700 for it and of course with the crazy market we probably overpaid with how things are right now.

I looked at it from the standpoint I can start all over again with a fresh warranty, added the extended warranty, 0% @ 72 months, and got a whole host of features that were not in my Silverado. Like somebody else said, at the end of the day it is almost like a wash.

I had a Ford F250 with the tremor package. Out of curiosity, I posted it online for sale....I had 8 dealerships call me within a 24 hour period. A dealership paid me $3000 more than I paid for it 5 months ago. ;)

So now I wait for my TRX... the ship date was supposed to be 5/21, but they pushed it out to 6/12...this will be a long wait. :(

I just traded in my 2018 F250 on a 2021 Ram Laramie. The asking price for the Ford in 2018 was $53,900 if I remember correctly, and I ended up giving $43,000 for it with my trade in. I just got $57,000 for it on trade in. $30,000 more than I owed on it and more than what the sticker was new. I took that $30K and rolled it over into the new Laramie. $73,000 sticker and I got it for $43K.

My wife’s Grand Cherokee lease is up in November, I would like to get another Charger. Because I was searching, used ones popped up on my Facebook 2020’s with 12k miles selling for $49k, link to the window sticker that showed it stickered for $41k brand new.

I'd be interested to see what my 2019 Ram 3500 Duelly is worth now on Kelly BB but I don't have a truly accurate knowledge of all the options on the truck. It is the high output Cummins 6.7 w/ the Aisin transmission. Got the rig on a $10K sticker discount year end clearance and also haggled off an additional $4,000, so I got the truck for about $64K. Only 7,000 miles on it.

Have the vin? Copy and paste it here (or type it out (all letters in caps)) and you will get all options the truck came with from the factory:

https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing

Also, when I sold mine about 3 weeks ago, kbb was $4,000-$6,000 lower than my vroom/autonation offers. Might want to give both of them a look if you are checking value. Same process, give them the vin and select the options and condition the vehicle is in. Doesn't take long.
