2 years ago my brother bought this 2004 4.7L Dakota from an old retired guy in his neighborhood.
He only used it to pull his fishing boat to the river, otherwise it was garage kept.
It only had 30K on it and 0 rust at all which is a miracle for a Wisconsin truck.
My bro bought it for his daughter's first car but she didn't drive it much in 2 years.
Her mom bought a new Wrangler and gave her old (2017) one to my niece so she in turn gave this to my dad.
It has 36K on it now. He put brand new Goodyears and brakes on it, but otherwise it's in terrific shape..

Loved my 2000 Dakota except for the 2wd, Sold it at around 200K around 2010 (70 mile round trip for work, travel for work, and also hauled band gear for gigs) if I remember correctly. I still see it running around here every once in a while with some mismatched(color) body panels.

Luuucky! I absolutely loved my 05 Dakota. Great little truck, just my size and it's payload was only a little less than my Ram's.

I still think my '99 ex-cab Dakota 5.2L was one of my favorite trucks..

That is a pretty truck! Dakotas will always have a special place in my heart because my first car was my dad's old Dakota we took camping and fishing and all that fun. Also the first car I ever bought with my own money was a Dakota. I eventually ended up owning 3 2nd gen Dakotas one of which was an r/t that I modified the heck out of. Should have kept it!

Easily my favorite truck ever made. And your dad's truck looks great! Cant believe that truck is as old as it is.

I believe my brother just kept it in his name and my dad pays the insurance so it'll end up going back to him eventually anyway...

Great looking truck, make sure you keep the oil changed, they've been known to sludge up in the engine, I had one for several years.
