I never even changed my own oil and I was able to figure out how to install my level. Having the right tools helps. IE: Coil spring compressor and breaker bar...

yeah the local performance truck shop (they specialize in lifts and such) wants $250 to install it. I feel like I'd rather install it myself, then pay $80 for my alignment. I don't have a spring compressor though. Is it absolutely necessary?

Gonna take a guess that you want the spring compressor. If you have a local autozone they should loan you one

Yes you will need it. Checkers and auto zone rent them out. Look at the spring make sure your getting the right one. Air tools are nice but not necessary. There are youtube how to videos also.

Move. Installing a level on a 4th hen was easy. Took me less than 3 hours and I wasn't hurrying.

You don't *need* a spring compressor since your truck doesn't have coil overs like 1500. It would help some.
I actually ended up using a bottle jack between the axle and frame to get enough room to reinstall the spring with the spacer on top. I wasn't to crazy about using the spring compressor on the HD springs. I wish I had thought about using the jack before I finished the drivers side lol I could have skipped the spring compressor

Something else you don't *need* but might help
My girlfriends 2500 rode much better with +2" shocks then it did with the stockers but they did have 150k miles on it

I'm excited to see it. You have a 2012 1500 right? 2wd or 4wd?
What'd it run you?

Good luck on the install. I've been considering a leveling kit myself.
