Hi everyone. Intro post I guess. I bought my first Ram just this January. It's a 2019 3500 Bighorn DRW. I'll use it to tow my 5th wheel, and am upgrading from a Chevy 2500. Literally more the 2x the payload and towing in this new truck. I was surprised when the dealer told me I'd need a CDL if I towed over 28,000 lb---I could never see the need to. Crazy to think I'd potentially use a CDL for a Pickup Truck though...

It's a really nice truck. I'm learning a lot since it's my first diesel, first dually and first Chrysler product... Because my sales guy was kind of a zero, I'm also discovering neat features like the wells under the rear floorboards. I wonder if it's possible to start this truck with my cell phone, like I could the Chevy.

Welcome to the board and to Ram! Post up a picture of the new truck. If you have any questions as to the features on these new trucks and possibly would like mod ideas, you’re in the right place!

If it has remote start then yes you can use your cell phone with the uconnect app most likely. Do a search here for remote start and you should find the answer you need. Welcome to the Ram family!

Congratulations on your new truck, here's hoping to many happy miles!

Your dealer may or may not be correct on the issue of a CDL. The rules vary significantly from state to state. My DL and vehicle registrations are in Wisconsin and here there's an exclusion from the weight basis for RVs. (Recreational vehicle operators (owned or leased motor home, fifth wheel mobile home or touring mobile home, provided it isn’t longer than 45 feet) not engaged in commercial activity are not required to hold a CDL.) Here's a link with some quick state-by-state references:

Good luck!

PS, my 5er is 43.5ft pin to tail.
