I finally set aside some time to start my first projector retrofit. Given all the issues I read about guys having trouble opening up their factory lights I decided to leave my stock quads alone and picked up a set of black and clear Depot lights from Amazon. Paint and supplies were ordered through Ebay. The V3 projectors and the rest of the lighting components came from DDM Tuning. <fingers crossed>

Oven set to 210* for 8 mins to loosen things up and back in for 5 more mins and they came apart real easy.

Its been raining on and off all day so hoping for better weather tomorrow so I can wire in the HIDs and give these babies a test run before sealing them up. :favorites13:

Added pics to second post. All in all it was a fun project. I learned a lot. The next set will go so much smoother. I have much respect for JJ and all the others that do this for a living. There is no way I could make any money doing it.

Very, very cool! Now you got me thinking... ;)

If you don't mind me asking, what did the whole project cost you?

$130 for the headlights
$125 for the projectors and HIDs (DDM was running a great sale)
$40 for paint and misc supplies
About $300 total.

I saw a lot of reviews (most were from a couple years ago and a few more recent) where guys slammed DDM for their poor quality control but for the price i just had to try them. I ordered them well ahead of time so i could inspect them and return if needed. Every component and harness I received was well packaged and in perfect condition. Will have to see how long they last but so far I am very satisfied with their products.

Did you go bi xenon? How hard was that to wire up vs normal HIDs?

Looks good! I'm a big fan of DDM. I have about 5 hid kits of theres, three 35w, and 2 55w and have been very pleased. Actually never had one go bad in 5 years. Their bulbs work, and haven't had a bad one yet or one go out but they aren't as bright as the XB 35 or the newer style osram style bulbs.

Bixenon is very easy as all u need is the harness. I actually have just retro'd 4 bixenon projectors with 55w HIDS on pop up firebird headlights in my 87 firebird. Then it has a 35w kit in the fogs... it's stupid bright lol. I'm actually awaiting projectors and aftermarket fogs to retro on my 14 ram with the sport style projector headlights. Should help with the light scatter. Gotta see if I can figure out a 9006 harness setup to use the bixenon function of the projectors in the fogs.

The projectors us typical H11 HID bulbs. You get the H13 relay harness and it will split the signal so the highbeam switch will operate the shutter for when you want high beams. Everything is plug and play except connecting to the battery for power and ground wires.
