unfortunately, its not gonna get finished today. I've got a couple papers to write for my masters class by Wednesday, the biggest of them being 12 pages. Hopefully i'll be able to finish the truck while letting my brain cool down during breaks from the papers

Have to say that this is a great install and I am glad to see that it is getting the attention that it deserves.

I agree, but I'd like to see it getting more attention from AF!

I have been watching this all along AF and I gotta tell you I am very impressed! man that is quite a large undertaking! You will enjoy it so much more though in the end, cause you have done it all yourself!

My hat is off to ya man!!

sorry guys. i promise it'll get done by the end of the week. Finishing up my masters class and it requires quite a few papers to be written so they took priority. Papers are done now, so top priority is this truck!!

When you finish the prototype, send it to me and I will do some long term testing on it.

alright i got a little bit more work done tonight. started out using the last bit of ensolite closed cell foam on the rear wall and under the subs. seems like thats where exhaust noise comes in easiest, so i wanted to make sure i got it nice and covered.

i finished wiring in the front components and putting the door panels on. all 4 door panels are now installed. i ran the speaker wire down the center of the truck to the amp rack, and then the RCA's down the passenger side. Also ran the 1/0 gauge power wire down the drivers side. All wiring is run now, so i can put the carpet back in first thing tomorrow. I got the connections at the headunit all buttoned up, and reinstalled the head unit and put the dash back together.

It SHOULD be finished tomorrow. If not tomorrow, 100% guaranteed Thursday, but i'll be reallllly surprised if its not bumpin by dark tomorrow (11pm CDT lol)

this is an awesome build. i remember seeing it on DF, then it dissapeared. did it get removed?
you are a crazy SOB... i havent even touched the audio in my truck yet, and if i do, it would only be a head unit and speakers. i know nothing about audio...

i cant wait to see the finished product, i know its gunna be sweet!

well as I should have guessed, I've run into a few problems. The first time I fired it up, only the components worked, and even they were crackly. After doing a lot of troubleshooting, I got all the speakers working great. Now Im having issues with the headunit. I get perfect sound out of the radio, but only sound to the dash speakers (only speakers powered by the headunit) when any other source is used (i.e. CD player, bluetooth, or aux inputs). Still have a lot of troubleshooting left to go...

I just wish this thing would go smoothly for once. Its definitely been a struggle.

lovin' the read - up until the last post!

I just had some fun (not nearly this much fun) with my truck - tracking down the issues is a PITA!

yep all RCA's are snug. one of them was bad (had to replace it) which is why the rear speakers wouldnt work initially. The head unit settings hadnt changed since before I started the new system. It remembered my EQ settings. I'm gettin ready to call tech support.

These are the first new subs i've owned, so im not familiar with a break-in procedure if there is one. They hit hard now, but not much louder than the old single P2. the box rattles quite a bit, but thats because i havent screwed the box down yet, only the subs into the box. i figure there is a little sound loss going into the vibrations, but i expected a little more.
