Unclear if it's 'the deal of a lifetime' but maybe so.

Basically you're walking away from the first truck and you're starting a new loan on another truck. The monthly payment amount on the new loan is the same as the monthly payment amount on the old loan. .

Doesn't really sound that 'unrealistic' as far as an offer, but w/o knowing the original down payment amount and/or any loss of equity, none of us know how much skin was involved.

And truthfully, that doesn't matter to anyone but the OP. The good part is you are comfortable with the trade, so 'rock and roll',,,

The 8 speed trans has a clunk in it, at times, while it's learning your driving techniques (so I've read). Mine had one this winter when we first got the truck. It lasted about a week, maybe 2... and that was only in 1st or 2nd gear. After the truck figured out our driving style, the clunk went away. That's the noise I'm familiar with... not sure if that's 100% accurate to all trucks, though. ;)

thanks for the info on the 8speeds.

yeah maybe I shouldnt of said anything about money lol. Im all good in that department lets just let that go. this was more of a question on whether or not the truck is a good swap as both Expresses have awesome packages. I do appreciate the words of wisdom tho im not trying to brush anyone off. I think I am going to pull the trigger on this. You guys are getting me pumped

Im not much of a "murdered out" look kind of person as I see it as trendy, but it is kind of growing on me, and lets be honest the truck looks bad ass! The best part is I can just unmarry my intune and tune this one now. Does anyone know if 8spd's are supported yet?

Sounds like you are all in, congrats, that is exciting. There is no comparison in crew cab space vs quad cab, you will love it.

I agree! When we were looking around, I sat in 2 quad cabs and it was a chore to get into the back seat, but I'm 6'3". That was a deciding factor for us. Even though I don't ride in the back seat, I wanted enough room for friends/family that would be back there. The crew cab is the way to go, in my opinion. I've never thought twice about it since.

The DiabloSport website says the tranny features are not supported for the 8speed. I don't know how that factors in to the engine tuning aspect though. I find it interesting that there is only a 5 hp difference (gain) between their 87 octane tune and their 93 octane tune, and a loss of 5 ft-lbs of torque. Why bother with 93 really?

Because I need to use my truck everyday and can't yank PCM out for 3 days? Or is it a plug in tuner also?

Never mind, I see his website. Pretty cool. The range of power gains they show are not very well defined however. I'm guessing anything over 20hp requires heads/cam etc.

Thanks for the replies guys. Whats this clunk you were talking about? Also i noticed the trans was noisy in the first few gears kind of a faint whirling wind sound they said it was normal. This is the first 8spd i have driven. It performed well so i had no other reason to think otherwise. Is this normal or should i have them look at it?

the clunk is a rough shift from 2nd to 1st when coming to a stop which makes the truck jerk a bit. some are reporting it happens every stop while others report it being occasional or rare. for some like me it's gone away after a bit(8000km for me) but others have said they still have it. seems to be a software issue and it's been reported on every 8 speed including the ones in other vehicles like Jeeps

the whirling sound happens when it's cold. once warm the 8 speed is quiet and usually buttery smooth but when cold it likes to whine and is a little rough. it's more of a winter issue but generally after 5 min it's warm enough

if you do get the truck i'd suggest having the dealer reset the transmission so it can learn your driving style

could be it's already been worked out or it never had it or it just didn't happen when you drove it. mine only did it like 3 out of every 10 stops and seemed to be worse if coasting to a stop rather then quickly stopping.

it feels like the truck shifts a bit too early and with the 1st gear on the 8 speed being a very low gear that sudden extra power gives it a good jerk

I just did something like this not long ago and have never looked back. I went from a QC 6 spd to a CC 8 sp and love it. Yes starting a loan over sucks, but it is a sunk costs for those of us who plan on always having a vehicle payment. I would go for it, but that worked for me and my finances. Plus I went from a lone star to a Laramie, so that is nothing but LOVE :D

Love it. Runs like a scalded dog, even with the bigger tires. I keep telling myself to go easy since the tires cost so dagum much, need to get some miles out of 'em!

Customer service is stupid good! Great to talk too and anytime I've sent an email the response has been very quick, like a few minutes.

Thanks guys. I love it! Black does show EVERYTHING tho, I can see every little dent (very few) and swirl mark. I'm glad I got a kid on the way to keep my mind off of it tho, otherwise I would be waxing and polishing this thing every weekend. I would be eating and sleeping thinking about paint correction. My only fear is curbing a rim now since they are not the glued on covers - before on my chrome clads I always though if I had to I could figure something out. Now I have no idea how I would match the factory black, or even touch it up.
