Not new to Dodge, however I am to the 3rd gen and the 4.7. I bought this truck from a co-worker 2 years ago with 175K on it, just recently turned over 200K. The plastic side of the radiator blew out about 6 weeks ago, I replaced it, water pump, belt and hoses. It was fine until last week when I had a catastrophic failure; 1st; exhaust gas in coolant and coolant running out the exhaust. In an act of desperation I tried Blue devil. That stopped the exhaust to coolant mix but then the coolant to oil started mixing accompanied by knocking and clicking and very rough idle.
Can anyone tell me an approximate price on what a dealership would charge for a new engine installed?
But, I'm hoping to find a lower mileage 4.7 to replace it with, but in my search, I started seeing reference to VIN 8th digit # (mine is N). So do I need a specific N-code 4.7, or would any 4.7 from 02-06 fit? There is a Pull-A-Part in Montgomery & Mobile, but don't list any Rams in their inventory, but have several Dakotas & Durangos. If I go pull it the price is only $250 + core.
Which brings me to my last question; can I just hook up a boost box to read the odometer?
Any help is much appreciated
