I have an 02, 4.7 1500 that I bought new, at 187k I’m starting to loose coolant, just a little.
My question is, does anyone make reasonably priced performance parts to rebuild my engine? I’m doing a complete rebuild, so I’m hoping to improve HP and torque.
Any recommendations and where to get the parts?

Swap to a same/similar year 5.7.

I have a 5.7 and I want more HP, if my 5.7 ever dies no sense putting all the effort into an upgraded 5.7 just to have the same HP as a 6.4, so I plan on just doing a 6.4 swap. Same concept applies to you.

Not much available for the 4.7.You could contact Nick at Air Ram and see if he still has any 4.7 parts left.At 1 point in time he was making a kit to put the early Eaton blower on them. You could do the hi-po jeep cam upgrade, which is basically the same cam as the 08 to 13 4.7's used if i remember right, but it's been almost 13 years since i was playing with a 4.7.

Not to much can be done to improve the 4.7 power wise just make sure you do a timing kit oil pump and stem seals thats the main issues with these engines.

also if you wind up needing cylinder heads let me know I do have a set of rare HO heads for a 4.7 will give you a few more HP. Im about to list a hoard of hemi heads 4.7 and 3.7 heads on ebay.

Where are you located? And what do you want for them?
I’m working in Rocky Mount, NC and I have a home in Columbus, Indiana

Ok, Now that I’ve had my Senior moment, I’m 76, Has anyone been through doing an upgrade on a 4.7 ? Not a race prepared engine, but real world driver in a Ram 1500 2wd ?

There wasn't a whole plethora of fun parts for the 4.7 back in its heyday. Other than a few things here and there, most upgrades were newer OEM stuff. By the time the later higher output version came online that was pretty much it. Looks like this kit is still being listed: https://www.boostedtech.com/product/2000-2007-dodge-ram-4-7-liter-v8-supercharger/

Nick died back in May. Brain aneurysm during a medical procedure.

Likely the best you can do is use the later 08+ cams (bit less aggressive than the old HO cams but more than the early stock ones), heads & intake. They fit on the older blocks and work, you just need to sort firing the second coil pack and custom tuning.

So a bit of clarification on this....I recently had occasion to look up the actual OEM cam specs:
Early 4.7 cam specs: .443"/.4292", 243.5°/253.7°, 17.6° overlap (found in 2004 Grand Cherokee manual)
HO cam specs: .4724"/.4292", 236°/250°, 18° overlap (also found in 2004 Grand Cherokee manual)
08+: .443"/.4292", 243.5°/253.7°, 17.6° overlap (found in 2008 Dodge Ram manual and confirmed with 2010)

So it would appear the 2008 power jump was done with just the new heads, compression, intake manifold and tuning and that it isn't worth getting the 08-13 cams.

Yeah came out of nowhere. Explained why he had been radio silent for all that time. Would've known if his business partner hadn't come on one of the other forums trying to unload the stuff they had been working on.
