How's it going, my 04 Ram 2500 5.7 has been getting a death wobble. This is the second time it has happened. After the first time my mechanic replaced a steering damper and said it would be fine, after that I took it on the highway the next day hit a slight bump and ended up snapping my outer left tie rod. He ended up replacing the outer left and right tie rod and the steering column and it seemed to do the trick although I hadn't taken highways ever since due to the fear of it happening again. Today while driving on back roads doing about 45 mph I got an even more violent death wobble, it's been about 4 months since those last repairs had been done. After this most recent incident I almost lost control and pulled over. I decided to try and limp my truck home got up to about 30 mph and it started death wobbling from not even hitting a bump. Any ideas where to start? Has anyone else had this issue? I've been researching it and have seen multiple different things that can cause it. Just tired of dumping money into a vehicle when it's not fixing the problem that's occurring. Any input is helpful thank you

I seen the death wobble happen to a new Jeep Gladiator rolling down the freeway, the driver was able to get the vehicle slowed down and to the shoulder.
There's multiple parts of the steering geometry if they're not correct can contribute to the death wobble. Check all the ball joints and linkages for being loose.

04 with all original suspension would be one thing after another.. you replace one which leads to the next weak link, at that age of truck I would be rebuilding the the whole front and any bushings in the rear.
Did get a wheel alignment after the work that was done too, like @crashsaid one thing off or out some and .. wobble wobble

Have you done anything with tires lately? Some of the worst cases of death wobble I have seen have been tire related, have seen several Jeeps with terrible wobble issues get cured with a new set of tires that are balanced properly.

This is how I fixed the death wobble on all my ram 2500s after tons of trial and error. This and a front end alignment Of course make sure nothing else is sloppy in front end like track bar bushings.

how many miles on all the parts, my old XJ with all new parts on a lift kit would get the death wobble if the track bar nut was just ever so slightly loose, on SFA, you have to make sure everything and I mean everything is tight, especially the track bar bolts between the frame and front axle. I would have your mechanic take track bar off and check the bushing and put new bolts in addition to what other members said above…the death wobble can be a pain to hunt down

I was going to say if you've broken parts driving it you've probably cracked the steering box and need the brace jws123 suggested. And possibly a welder.
