4 Months now waiting on my new transmission for my 2022 Ram 2500 (under warranty / 40k miles). I understand some of you have waited this long before but does anyone know any unofficial way I can get a status update from Ram’s Warranty Department? Customer Care isn’t able to contact the separate warranty dept and the dealership has no direct way other than receiving a confirmation code acknowledging my warranty ticket/claim. I’m digging because I’m in the Army and I will PCS across the country in the near future. Any advice is appreciated!

Unfortunately not that I am aware of.... ran into the same issue with a Ford transmission as well as when I worked for a dealership. Dealership can only submit a claim through their system that only the warranty dept can see. Their only communication is through that claim.

Customer service can't talk to either the warranty department or the part supplier. But... maybe try these folks?

Check the Lemmon laws in your state. In some states if it sits more than X number of days, it's a Lemmon. Where I live (MN) it's as below for vehicals still under the original manufacturers warranty. But depends on your state.

  1. Four or more unsuccessful attempts to repair the same defect; or,
  2. One unsuccessful attempt to repair a defect that has caused the complete failure of the steering or braking system and that is likely to cause death or serious bodily injury if the vehicle is driven; or,
  3. A car that has been out of service due to warranty repairs for 30 or more cumulative business days.

Just hope that IF the dealership sold you a extended vehicle plan, that it is a MOPAR Plan & not some 3rd party plan.

Some dealerships will sell non Mopar Plans & do not explain that your basically going to have to fight for coverage assistance.

A Mopar Plan coverage is for the
United States, Canada, Mexico, Guam & Puerto Rico

Some dealership plans will cover you in just One State or Three from where you bought the Plan

Contact Ram cares.
also, your dealer should be able to get you a status. its odd its taking that long. my trans failed after yours did, and it took 2 months. there is no way it should take that long imho.

It took me 2 months to get a status on my Expedition transmission from Ford. Seems like if it's an even semi-uncommon part, every mfg ghosts the dealer/customer until they have resolved something on their end.

I was at the dealership multiple times and saw the screen they were using to communicate. They would submit a message for updates and it went unanswered until the 2 month timeframe.

Then after the status saying it needed parts that were on backorder they went silent with no ETA. We got the next update in 30 days. When the parts arrived, they physically didn't fit and Ford sent me an email saying they were redesigning those parts because the ones they just redesigned to fix the failure 10R80s were having didn't fit. Got told we were one of the guinea pigs.

I literally had to wait for the mfg to build the parts before the dealer could get them. The warranty dept didn't really seem to care. Transmission got rebuilt and the car was given back to us 6 months and 2 days from the date we dropped it off. Made it a whopping 88 miles before it failed again.

All that to say... seems like an industry problem.
