A friend of mine gave me his old light bar, but I have no brackets or wiring for it. Can anybody tell me exactly what I will need to wire it up? I'm going to mount a switch for it next to my headlight switch.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1444666293.448202.jpg
This is how I want it mounted, I have not found any brackets for a rear mount, only ones I see are windshield mount brackets. Looks like I'll have to fab some up. Any help would be great!

Pretty sure like said will have to face something up. Not sure I've seen any light bars on back of the cab pointed backwards.

As far as wiring. Does it have the wiring coming out of it? Just need a power and ground...

Those will be custom brackets.... and nobody makes them or for that fact even looked into making them. It would be a first for me to see one mounted that way. As stated above, just 12V and ground.

Easy enough. What brand of light is that? Just email the manufacture and order new brackets. As far as mounting it like that, It's just a light. Light don't care what way it faces. You want side mounts or bottom mounts? Heck, if it's a Cree I can get mounts at work.

I forgot about the little feet mounts that they come with, that would probably work.

I would buy a single yakima or thule roof bar (and the mounting feet for ram pickups), and mount the bar to that. Rigid and other light bar manufacturers offer tube-mount brackets, and with the square Thule bars you could just bolt it on easily.

Using the bar mounts from yakima, thule, etc. keeps you from drilling into the roof of your truck.

Yes it looks like positive and negative coming out of it.

I figured I would need to make brackets, no big deal. I've never seen one mounted on the back of the cab facing the rear either, but that's where I need it. I wasn't sure if I needed a relay and fuse for this..

Did it come with the little L bracket mounts? Those would probably be your best option for that area, just seal up the holes and your golden.

Yes it did, but they were lost after the bar was removed from my friends truck.

That's good, I was thinking it the wires cut. But if you know anything about wiring it's not too hard.

I like this. I'd like to avoid drilling holes in the roof if possible. I don't think there are any door jam brackets for where I want this bar mounted though.

I just don't see how you are going to mount it without drilling in the roof.

I forgot to ask, why do you want it mounted backwards? You like driving backwards? lol
A couple spot led lights under bumper would be enough for most people.

Driving backwards hahahah, no none of that. I do a lot of night fishing, bank and on water. Extra light in the rear will be helpful while loading and unloading my boat and gear.

That bar is way over the top for just needing a little extra light behind you
I have two 10W LED cubes and they are more than enough light.
It will probably make crazy wind noise too

A basic $10 light harness will go a long way for wiring it. Switch, fuse, relay is all you really need. You'll need wiring/relay/fuse that can handle more than 25 amps

I will take as much light as I can get, and I already assumed about the wind noise. It's a 300w light, reading some of the specs. What amp rating should I look for?

I agree. I run 22000 Lumens out front and a Big light bar like you have would be nice out back for night work, play, skinning, etc. A friend has a bar like yours and he loves it for a rear light.
Are all the LED's diffused in yours or just some of them? You know the difference right? Diffused lights have rough chrome lenses for flooding close and spot lights for distance have smooth chrome lenses.
My forward lights have three diffused on each side and the centers are smooth.
