Need info on in house 30k 5th wheel hitch

I recently purchased a 2018 3500 limited for the towing capacity of a 5th wheel. I've seen quite a few references to an inhouse built 30k 5er hitch, problem is, dealership can't locate it. I've called Mopar help which transferred me to RAM help and ended up talking to someone who had no idea what I was looking for, referred me to the RAM store to look under "hitches and towing".

Wondering if anyone had any insight at all on this?

Factory fifth wheel prep? My guess is if the truck doesn't have it they probably won't install it. If it does have the fifth wheel package, then you probably have to buy the hitch frame and hitch.

5th wheel prep is in place and the 25k is not going to cut it. I bought this truck specifically for the 30k in house hitch.

I have not seen a 30K "in-house" hitch. Any hitch with a MOPAR brand on it was built by one of the mainstream hitch makers. It wouldn't even be a dealer installed option as they'd have no clue how to do it.

I have the 5'vr prep package in place and got my hitch from a qualified RV shop after I had picked one I liked.

I would check with Reese for a 30k 5th wheel hitch.

If I remember right, the “in house” 5th wheel hitch is a Curt brand part. Take a look at the Etrailer website. They have as good a selection as anyone. You can also chat with someone there that can help you.

Thanks for the tip on Curt. I've been through the Etrailer website but haven't found anything yet besides the reese hitch that's 30k. That one says for MD trucks and mounts to the frame without the bed (for cab and chassis models).

I am wondering what you are pulling that requires a 5th wheel hitch rated to 30k? The heaviest 5th wheel campers I know of max out at about 24k. Typically when you get above that you are pulling with a gooseneck and those are easy to find.

Take a look at New Horizons and Spacecraft, we haven't purchased yet but either one of those are who we are looking at.

Aren’t those custom built trailers? What do they recommend, probably a medium duty truck? Can they recommend a hitch for your truck?

They are customs, yes. They are hauled all the time with Ford Superduty and Dodge until they require something larger. We'll have ours designed within the parameters of the truck.

I haven't found any 5th wheel hitches rated at 30k only 20k and 25k that fit in the puck system. There are some that I know are ran on the Cab Chassis that are rated really high. Do you have the 4.10s? I have the 3.73s and my max tow is barely over 25k the 4.10s are just above 30k
