How can I identify the best candidates from a wreck yard to get a limited slip for my 5.9 liter 2wd? Please advise if you can help.

First you have to determine witch rear end you have it'll either be a corporate or a Dana 60. Then you would find a 4wd model to pull it from (they have an LSD). Although I personally wouldn't get one outta the junk yard because they tend to wear overtime and not work properly.

I can,t help you identify them, but the dodge lsd wear in time. So just get one and put new parts in it, should be good to go.

Not all 4wd trucks came with LSD's - it was an extra cost option then in both 2wd + 4wd trucks, just like it is today. I probably fixed the pinion seal/bearing issue on 20-25 mid to late 90's 9.25" axles and only a couple were LSD equipped.

You have 3 choices in a 2wd...

8.25 corporate rear. Very weak, not recommended

9.25 corporate. Marginally stronger, LSD units disintegrate over time and abuse.

Dana 60, 70 etc. Found in 2500 and up trucks, stronger but will have 6 or 8 lugs and string spacing may not match a 1500.
