I have a Magnaflow Exhaust, Now I'm planing for a Vararam CAI with 87mm TB. Along with the Diablo Trinity ( Hemifever ). After this i should be leaving at least some trucks right? haha I have a 2 door so with that extra weight shed oppose to a 4 door should make a difference as well? :naughty: Any Inputs or reviews on these together?

Good basis. What gears do you have?
If you have the 6 sp trans, I'd highly suggest a torque converter as well.

This will completely depend on how deep your pockets are. Lots of guys here have gone with headers (long or short). Super chargers, nitrous, gears, e-fans and many many other MODs.
All have Threads going

Or just call Moe's and order everything they have....:)

Id personally buy headers before you purchase an intake and throttle body. You will see much more gains. If you have the money for it all, then go with long tube headers w/ new y-pipe and the intake/PTB.

I installed my Vararam that I used to have before my headers and TB. No gain at all that I could feel. I went back to stock, installed LT headers and PTB then installed my S&B intake. I could actually feel something from an intake, first time every (I have never gone this far with mods on a modern day vehicle).

I had a local customer come by last week for a Vararam install. His truck is a bone stock 2014 1500 RC/SB Express w/ 3.55's and 6sp transmission. 2 weeks ago, he ran a 14.7 @ 94mph (It was 70* at the time of that run. I installed the intake for him, and he called me the next day saying he didn't feel anything and wanted to return it. I asked him to take it to the track and call me back with his results first. He went on Friday night and ran a 14.3 @ 97mph (68* outside). Only changes from 1 pass to the next was a 2* difference in air temp and the Vararam intake.

Its sometimes hard to feel gains in the seat of the pants with a 5500+ lb truck, but the right parts will show gains. He's keeping the intake now and coming by this week for a Hemifever tune and throttle body, so I'm expecting him to easily be into the 13's with just a few simple mods.

Sounds promising to me! And hitting low to midrange 13s is my goal

Anything is possible. I picked up about .6 with a new tune from Jay over Seans so I dont doubt the Vararams potential. The killer for the Vararam for me was the rubbing on the condenser. Someone reported it wearing a hole in it over time. I pulled mine off after a few weeks on to look at it and it was already wearing down the condenser rim. IMO, that should not be an issue on the most expensive intake available. Ill take slight less performance with the S&B over the build quality.

So overall the fitment isn't the best?

S&B has the best fitment, but Vararam is the best performer. I see that you are in Houston. I have installed about 100 Vararam kits already, so swing by, and I will install it for you for free. They are very easy to line up properly after doing so many. Only takes about 10 minutes.

All the mods will help, looks like we'll have the same. Headers do a bunch, I like them the most. I have 3.92s already, but wouldn't mind a TC also. Make it a little peppier and snappier down low, which is what id like.

I like mine, kinda needs more power though :) But itll suffice and be a fun truck for now.

Ill save cash and mod money for the Challenger TA / or Hellcat, or C7.

In your case (unfortunately mine as well) your limiting factor is, and will ALWAYS be, the tranny.

Do they not have a torque converter for the 8speed yet?

The ZF 8 Speed has a very specific TC design
and a computer controlled twin torsional damper system
programmed for earlier lock up and more efficiency.

There will likely never be an aftermarket replacement
due to the programming required to operate it.

2011-08-31_Wandler_ZDW_zf.JPG

The torque converters which are produced at ZF's location in Schweinfurt, play a major role when it comes to the quality of the 8-speed automatic transmission. Owing to the latest torsional vibration damper technology, converter slip can be bridged at a very early stage already without compromising comfort – this increases the transmission's efficiency and reduces consumption. The advantages of the 8HP convince more and more automotive manufacturers worldwide: ZF is currently building a transmission plant in Greenville/South Carolina, USA, to fulfill a supply and license agreement with Chrysler.
