Hit a curb, need to replace one 20 x 9 chrome clad wheel. Has anyone had to do the same and found a good deal on wheels?

No good deals that I’ve seen. I ordered a new wheel to replace one that came bent on my truck, then later discovered a local company that straightens wheels and had them straighten the old wheel AND THE NEW WHEEL THAT CAME BENT. The 20” wheels with glued-on covers are soft, in my opinion, and if I were starting over again I’d put the $400+ cost of a Ram wheel towards a set of good aftermarket wheels and be done with it. And, it would be better looking than that glued-on, chrome-plated plastic.

Best,
DG

I like where this guy's head is at. Put the money towards a set of custom wheels, $800-$1k gets you a pretty nice set of something way nicer looking than chrome clads.

And then you can sell your 3 good wheels and recoup the cost. I bought my wheels from Discount Tire Direct and with the rebates from the manufacturer and rebate for using their card in addition to selling my stock chrome clads with damage from getting balanced I was in my new wheels for about $200.

I bent one myself a couple months ago and got a very nice used replacement off of eBay for $200 with free shipping. Here's a similar one and I'm sure there are many others: https://www.ebay.com/itm/13-14-15-1...ash=item4419bcf01b:g:tWQAAOSwdA9ar2uV&vxp=mtr
You guys talking about aftermarket wheels see that this guy is 61 right? Hell I'm only 50 and I hate aftermarket wheels(the last decent aftermarket wheels that I remember are Cragar 5 stars and Keystone Classics)Old guys don't generally like change as much especially if it involves spending lots of money on something that don't necessarily need. Just sayin.

We were just throwing out some options, I hope when I turn 50 in a few years I don't stop liking aftermarket wheels.

I'm the youngest 61 year old you guys will ever meet, built hot rods, muscle cars, street cars, drag cars, had lifted trucks, lowered trucks. I did see the links on Ebay, Wheel and tire still holding air so may not be bent. Looking at it in the day light, tire took the brunt of it, nice chunk out of the sidewall.

As for aftermarket wheels, I can take it or leave it,

As to the being old and aftermarket wheels.

The finishes on the wheels today are not as good as they were 20 years ago. You used to be able to buy , chrome cragers, centerlines and even american racing wheels and they would be good for years.

Alot of us (older) guys dont like the black wheel trend. Chrome wheels are limited in selection and the chrome starts pitting or peeling in a couple years. Most companies only warranty them for 1 year. I know I'm not about buying new wheels every 3-4 years.

Polished is the way to go if you want shiny, as you can clear coat them or just rub them out every so often. But the selection on polished wheels is even smaller.

So sometimes the stock wheels are just fine .

I absolutely agree with you on the black trend as I would take chrome over blacked out 99/100 times. That being said the chrome clad wheels on my Laramie are decent enough looking wheels and the clad is way more durable than any chrome or polished wheel that I've ever had. My point was I spent less than $400 and bought a very nice used rim and one new Goodyear and didn't see the point of replacing all four rims (and most likely tires too) and probably have to spend $2K in the process. Of course my truck had barely 10K on it at the time so I expect to get 2-3 more years out of these tires. Don't forget about RFB while your at it (these big ass wheels don't spin balance worth a damn) and taxes. Hell I guess I'm just a cheapskate.

There's a company called oe wheels that sells knock off replacements. I just bought another factory set off craigslist when I wrecked one. Got a decent deal at 800 with tires and tpms and sold the tires off for 400 Had a hard time selling the old 3 and gave away the old sensors as I didn't need them. Finally sold the 3 rims for about what they were worth in scrap aluminum 25 a wheel so I could get them out of my way. I guess that makes my net cost 325 and the newer wheels were nicer and somebody got free tire pressure sensors.
