Hey guys great forum. I just got a 2014 Ram 1500 4x4 crew with the 5.7 Hemi and 8speed trans. For the past 13 years I have been driving a 2500 4x4 with a Cummins and know all about tuning/modding diesels but I am lost with the new gas truck LOL.

Looking to get a tuner and have been looking at the DS I1000 dcx with the Hemi Fever custom tunes. But the more I read the more I am finding people having trouble with the DS tuners (mainly updating, freezing, not returning to stock etc). Looks like DS has decent customer service and gets most of the problems resolved but looking for idiot proof lol.

What other tuners, chips etc should I be looking at? Other than the tuner I will likely keep the truck "stock" with maybe an upgraded intake/filter set up in the future.

This is my daily driver with aprox 50/50 city/highway miles, not looking to go out and race but would like more pep/drivablity with a little increase is milage would be nice too.

I have search both here and on the internet for a could of days and like I said I have confused myself, lol.

Thanks in advance,
J-

I have the DS T1000 w/Hemifever, and have not had a single issue with it. Like you said, when issues happen DS seems to have good customer service. Sean at Hemifever is quick to respond too.

I'm running the trinity with a hemifever tune. I've never had a problem. It was an easy install. The only problem I've had was because the ds is not Mac friendly but that was it.

correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like the I-1000 and the T-1000 are essentially the same tuning tool with the only difference being the that the T-1000 has the gauges, race function and stays mounted where the I-1000 is just the flash programer? Functonally they are the same?

I was going to get the i-1000, but found a deal on the T-1000.
I've had zero issues running it so far, just takes forever to 'flash'

Cool. I just don't think I need the race mod or the garages or an extra thing on my dash for someone with sticky fingers wanting to take lol.

Another quick question? is a 180deg thermo required to run these? I had a 97 1500 SST that I had a Jet Chip on it and it was detonate unless I had a 180deg thermo.

Not that big or expensive of an upgrade just curious do I can order/pick up everything at once.

Thanks again for the help guys
