Im going to buy a new ac compressor but im debating on if i should by a new one or remanufactured one. New is $350 with $10 core fee, remanufactured is $220 with $ 70 core fee.

Just curious if anybody has ever bought the remanufactured and had trouble with it or have they always worked?

The only experience I have with a reman a/c compressor was years ago I bought one and took it to be charged with freon. It had a severe leak right out of the box. Removed it and took it back for a replacement because it had a warranty.
Of course this was during the heat of the summer.
Had the new one charged up and headed out of town for vacation and the damn thing didn't last 20 miles.
I was young and poor and couldn't afford a new one or another freon charge. :(

My personal experience with remanufactured car parts, i end up replacing them all more often than not. Just get new and be done with it. Good luck

helped my dad replace ac compressors when i was a kid. he found the new units worked very well. the remans were usually cleaned and honed out but they never put larger bore rings in the units to keep a seal on the piston.

i suggest a new compressor

I've had good luck with both the re-maned and new.
Had one new one on a tractor that only lasted an hour and put crap through the system,
had to back flush with N2 to get all the crap out and start over, new reciever dryer, new expansion valve and new compressor.
Expensive week doing all that twice except for the back flush only did that the second go round.

Clutch engages, you can hear it come on with the snowflake button lol. Pressures never change. I vaccumed the system, put as much gas in it as it will hold and the low side never drops to allow me to put more in.

So i decided to go with a new one from oreilly's since it was here in stock. It wasnt all that hard to change out the compressor. I decided to change the filter bag aswell. That was a PITA. Very difficult trying to feed it up into the tube. When i hooked the lines back up to the compressor the green oring fell out and i didnt notice so it actually pulled and held a vaccum, but once pressured up it started leaking, then i found the oring on the ground. Next day i put the oring in. Did the same process but still leaking. Took the suction line back off and somehow the metal gasket moved and i bent it all to hell. So i had to track down a new gasket. You can only get them in a kit... $50 at oreillys or $35 at autozone. Finally got it one and all charged up. Running really good so far. Pic of the desicant bag , compressor and smashed gasket lol
