I just traded in my 2017 F150 5.0 for a 2018 RAM Laramie EcoDiesel. Both Crew cab trucks.
There wasn't anything wrong with the F150, I just wanted a half ton diesel and the RAM was a far better deal. Ford is stupid in that they only offer their small diesel in the high trim models and I didnt find any for under 65k. I have always owned Ford trucks until now. The RAM was at 56k MSRP.
My little brother works for FCA in Michigan and with employee pricing + incentives I got this truck for 17k off MSRP.
It is the Brilliant Black color. The interior is also black. It has leather, sunroof, auto high beam, rain sensing wipers, keyless go, Nav and several other options. I find the interior feels much more plush than my F150 XLT was.
I honestly think the uconnect system is far better than Sync3. The biggest annoyance with Sync3 is that when Anroid Auto launches, it takes over the screen. No status bars or easy access to the Sync system at all. You have to exit back to the Sync system to access anything not on AA. It keeps AA running in the background but it is just a stupid implementation.
Before I bought the 17 F150, I had a 15 F150 with the 2.7 EcoBoost. The engine spun a bearing at 23k on that one and they put in a new long block. I drove that for another 20k before getting the 17. The 17 has been a great truck other than the moonroof track breaking, well known issue on the panoramic roofs, and the infamous stupid freezing door lock issue. Both of which have had multiple fixes but still seem to reoccur.
I have been driving new Ford vehicles since my first new car back in 1991. The recent issues I have had caused me to lose some faith in Ford products. I would still by another Ford but I felt it was time to give Chrysler a shot. I also recently picked up a used 2010 Camaro. It feels good to be open minded and not brand stupid for a change.
So, sorry for the long intro. This is my first RAM and first diesel. Looking forward to seeing what I can learn here.
