Yes, I read all of the fan clutch threads and posts. I didn't find the answer so here's yet another one. My 2008 Ram 1500 crew cab w/ 5.7 Hemi needed a water pump. So, while disassembling it I found that the hex shaped extension between the clutch head and the water pump pulley was welded to the pulley by rust. I cannot break it loose without a torch, which I don't own. I decided to get a new fan clutch which came with the extension attached. The issue is that the new extension is about 2" long and the old one is 2 3/8" long, thus placing the fan itself more within the fan shrouds enclosure. So, is this shorter extension, and thus placement of the fan nearer the engine by 3/8 of an inch, going to be an issue with overheating? I'd like to know before I use the part, so that if the answer is yes, I can send it back and buy one that is the same length. Thanks.
