Going to call dealer and see how to warranty my new fan clutch. Purchased April 25.
Was good until Saturday.
It's full engaged / full time.

I have no codes , the #3 fuse is good i checked it earlier. Will check the other 2 when I get back home with my meter.
QUESTION:
Do I have a shot at 1 of the other 2 being bad and causing the clutch to remain engaged?
When i shut the truck down now the fan stops almost immediately, not even 2" of rotation. Pushing it by hand isn't hard but it's not easy.
No play / no wiggle
I didn't want to hijack anyone else's thread , problems are not similar.

Thank you

Also I used genuine Mopar parts 52014729ac

Something seems odd. Fan Clutch is not electrical. It has a silicon viscus fluid that engages the fan. Clutch fan is attached to the water pump.

Those fuses are for the electric radiator fan that runs off the PWM signal from the PCM. No clutch involved on this one. It works when engine temp exceeds a setpoint and when the A/C is on

Update:
Started the Ram to shuffle cars around so I work on it.
Fan clutch was disengaged this morning.
My 31 mile commute home from work last night it was locked up whole way. 75 mph cruise set. So for about 2 days full y locked.

Drove 6 miles this morning turning max a/c on and off. Still acting as it should. Running the new unit since about May first.
Going to put another 70 miles on it today and see how she goes.
Wondering if I should sit tight and drive it a few more days or remove it and warranty it through a local dealer?
Im leaving for vacation next Friday and I really don't want to drive my Gladiator.
What to do ...
Atleast today it's unlocked and my truck doesn't sound like an f-16

Just to add, it has been very hot here in Michgan last two days. Overhead said 112° when i started it yesterday.
Does ambient air temp enter the equation at any time? I can't help but wonder

The Cummins uses an electric fan clutch,it's differant then what the 1500's use,and is a whole lot more money the last time i checked on one,lol

Im going to see what the relays are responding/ responsible for. Maybe the high relay circuit has something to do with fully engaging the clutch, or similar.
Maybe something in climate setting didnt send correct signal? I always shut my air off before shutting down the truck. I have had alot of electrical issues with this truck. 2 hood latch switches, clock spring , headlight issues, cruise switches etc, DEF pump, guage. Im sure I'm leaving something out.
I'll get some butt time tonight at work I'm sure. Going to dig more.

I been trying to find schematics of wiring for my 2015 Ram.
Found this when I did my monster Ram. Directly under my erg temp switch. I zip tied it to the harness for erg valve.
Best i can guess is it is a factory connection for duel alternators? It's capped , just how i found it.
My best guess , haven't found any positive answers, yet. Figured I'd ask here too.
Thanks in advance

My bad. Yes it is a cummins.
Two days of normal fan cluth operation. I have 8 days to figure this out. If it's normal operation until I leave I'm driving it. 1 more hiccup and I am going to remove it , warranty it, try another.

Just a guess, a shorted relay would make it run all the time.
if its running when it don't need to , give the relay a tap with a screw or ? and see if that helps, or change the relays.

Update
My fan clutch , 2nd replacement warranty is now in the shop for the first time.
Twice replacing myself, now at dealer for diagnosis.
Symptoms:
At rpm's over 1300 fan clutch stays engaged full time. Cruising hwy speed can hear fan on full time.
Twice now, cabin and back. Full engaged for 3+ hours each way.
Been there since December 8th , the HD diesel tech has a transmission repair in front of me. Supposed to look at it early next week.
Their regular techs didnt find anything. Annoying since its not a "diesel " repair.
We shall see what happens next week.
Just wanted to post this as follow up.
Will continue as information available.

Mike

16 days , dealer diesel mechanic can't get to my truck after having it for forever.
Went and picked it up after they basically said it runs like its supposed too.
Anyone have any ideas which gremlins I should be chasing.
Above 12-1300 rpm's my fan clutch is engaged full time.
Cruising speed on hwy clutch an issue engaged constantly.
Coolant temp can be 100 degrees or 190 same same. Engaged.
Any ideas appreciated ..
Michael
