Hey everyone, I’m a month into my 2023 1500 Classic Hemi 4x4 with 3.92 gears. Tradesman trim, carpet floors, cloth seats (I added Rough Country seat covers). It’s essentially the SLT trim.
So far absolutely love it. Got it used with 73k miles, it had consistent oil changes (Average ~6,500 OCIs) and no issues on the carfax other than replacing one of the hub bearings.
One thing I didn’t realize when I bought it was the high idle hours. ~1000 idle vs 1300 run. No ticks. I commute 130 miles a day with 120 of those on the interstate, and am already running about 25:1 run to idle.
I drive about 2,500 miles a month and I plan on doing 7,500 mile OCIs. Essentially once a quarter. Plan on using Mobil1 Advanced Full Synthetic 5w-20 with STP XL filter. Considering Valvoline R&P for a couple changes to clean out anything potential build up from all the idle hours (if that’s a thing?), thoughts?
I came over from Ford and at the price range and year range I was looking at the F-150s were about $3-5000 more expensive and so many recalls…also, the 10 speed. I had a 2014 F150 with the NA V6 which was an awesome truck. Sold it when I started the long commutes about 2.5 years ago but couldn’t take being in a commuter car anymore.
I’ve learned a ton from this forum so far. It’s great.
