Instant miles I get anywhere from 18-22 on average for highway. my average mpg overall sucks right now because most of my driving is in town. Plus it's winter.

It's a lot better with the Goodyear duratracs I put on this summer. I don't need to use 4wd as much. Overall handles great. 1st truck with traction control so it's been a learning experience in deep snow in 4wd.
Where in NY are you

I've learned to get what I want. Nothing like spending 30k+ on a vehicle and having buyers remorse. I'd rather have more than I need than not enough. Hence my last truck was a 05 ram 3500 dually with a Cummins. Did I need it? Not at all. Was I glad I got it, you bet. Came in handy a few times. Do I regret trading it in for my new truck? I do. Still don't need a truck that big but is was fun to drive and was nice to know I had more truck than I needed.

I bought the 4.7 thinking it would be better on gas but it is not at all, all I really do is drive in town and I'm lucky if I get 11mpg and my truck is bone stock, I regret not getting the hemi everyday, so I say go with the hemi! Good luck

2012's are alot better as far as mpg's then years past. Every year they get a little better. My '06 sucks (13.5avg, but I don't think the HEMI was ever intended to push a truck this heavy.) In a QC or even CC you'ld probably be fine. Not to mention the newer HEMI's are putting out 40-50 more HP too, more HP to push the truck will net better mpg's. So, my vote is HEMI, always..

I wish I had the Hemi, but when I bought the truck with the 4.7 it was a deal I kind of stumbled on. Plus I'm coming from a 5 cylinder Chevy Colorado, so the 4.7 is a big improvement for me.

Question though. Since there is less stuff on it to go wrong, like MDS, Do you guys thing the 4th Gen 4.7 will be more reliable over it's life then the Hemi?

I think the 4.7 was completely re-done in 09 or 10 if I'm not mistaken and has more power than the previous 4.7.
