I'm Clayton. I'm from Republic, MO. Bought my first Ram 3 weeks ago. I've wanted a 3rd gen ram for several years now. Finally got the chance to buy one.
08' Ram 1500 5.7L 4x4 116k (now has 119k) Paid $15,900 for it (fair price?)
After 3 weeks of owning it the rear end started making horrible noises. Did a little research and found these are common for the pinion bearing going out. No big deal to replace that. (kind of pissed off I hadn't even made the first payment) Got the bearing master kit, and got to work. In the process I found the rear rotors to be ridiculously thin so I slapped on a new set. Finally got the rear end back together and all the specs dead on.. Started the truck up and popped it into gear and low and behold the horrid noise was still there. Pulled it back apart to diagnose a little further. Finally pin pointed it to the ring gear set. That will be going in tomorrow night. Hopefully after a complete rebuild of the rear axle I won't have to dump anymore money into this thing for a long wile. I've got right around $1,000 in it already.
I really do love the truck to death, it is by far the nicest thing I've ever owned. I also had an idea of what I might get into by buying one of these trucks. Just expected it to be further down the road.
That is the end of my rant for now.
I plan on a 4" lift 35" or 37" tires. 4.56 gears, tune, exhaust, and intake sometime in the future.
The day I got her.

Gear swap - The sales man said he had all the fluids changed even the differentials. I'm going to guess he was full of sha-poopie!

All Clean and purdy!
