Hello folks. Apologies if this has already been covered but I didn't really see a thread that covered my question. I have an 05 Ram Laramie with the Infinity Sound system. I bought a new double din head unit so I can have andriod auto and also the radio sucks. I am thinking I want to connect the new radio to the infinity amp (through some wiring harness if possible) however I'm not sure how to do it and/or if it even makes sense to do it. The new head unit has some power to it and I wasnt going to add an amp to it. Has anyone done this and if so can you share what you did. I really don't want to change out the speakers if I can avoid it. I thought there was a thread that stated the infinity speakers might be 1 ohm speakers so they need the infinity amp????

If I need to eliminate the infinity amp I'm ok with that but again would prefer not to change the speakers.

Any thoughts and help would be appreciated.

Unless the head unit is purposely designed to work with the Infinity amp (only seen 1 or 2 that were) you have to bypass it.

I see. So maybe they are designed to work together and it's not just a simple amp. There's communication that occurs. Do you know anything about the speakers being specific to the amp or can the factory speakers work with any radio/amp?

The speakers are also specifically tuned to work with it, all premium car systems are that way. I've never tried it but I imagine just running straight wire to each one wouldn't sound great. Honestly if you're going to go the non-compatible aftermarket route then you should probably replace your speakers as well. This was the reason I went searching for a specific head unit, I wanted something that would work with the onboard set and fit properly in the dash.

Being an Android unit was a plus, my requirements were full compatibility, nav capable, bluetooth, some form of memory card & backup cam capable.

I see. Thanks for the added info and photos. I really wanted a plug and play set up but also wanted a larger display. I bought a custom dash bezel to match (silver) to accomodate a double din set up and it looks really nice. With that in mind I was hoping not to replace all speakers but there may be no way around it. Thanks for your input.

Hey Hemilonestar. I'm curious about the head unit you bought. The link doesn't work. Can you share the brand and model #?

It was made by Insane Audio who unfortunately seem to have gone out of business within the past year or two when I wasn't paying attention.
It is a quality piece though and you can pretty much do anything to it that you can do to any other Android device. As I am getting rid of the truck, the head unit is available as is the OEM looking tailgate cam handle and tailgate power lock solenoid. So is the silver bezel lol. PM me if interested.

I have 05 ram and I have spent weeks trying how to bypass amp. What brand stereo will work without the bypass, new speakers, or new amp? Please. Thank you!
