Hated the stock radio so put in a Kenwood DNX616 w blue tooth and iPod cable for my old school 80 gig classic.
While I had it out I also put the Alpine KTP-445U power pack amp. I love how compact it is, fits right behind radio.
I have two kids so I also added a Kenwood 7" overhead in for rear passengers.

I have Alpine Type S components waiting to be put up front, still deciding what I'm going to do for rear.
More to come

Which wiring harness did you get? I'm not sure if I need the $80 PAC one that has steering wheel controls and canbus. I have a steering wheel control module from Axxess. All I think I need is something to get power, ground and accessory from for the pioneer DVD. I would rather not cut the factory harness if I don't have to. But I hear stories of airbags not working or warning lights without the canbus/data. Will be going into a '15 uconnect 5.0. I know you are in a 2012, but any advice would be great.

Man that is the same radio I started looking at last night. Seems to be the best for the price that has Bluetooth and backup camera capabilities

Looks good, but why didn't you just run the iPod to the glove box for a more cleaner look?

Both my kids have an iPod 5th Gen touch and when they want to listen to there's I just attach the lighting adaptor and boom.
Besides when I'm not using the cup holder the cord disappears
