I'm sure this has been answered before but could not find it in the first 5 pages or so. I am installing a Pioneer AVH-1330nex stereo unit into a friends 2012 Ram 2500. I think I have the VSS/speed sensor located at least I think I do,but wondering if the wire might run thru the interior cab under the dash some where. I am speaking of the VSS/ Speed Sensor wire. Hate to run a wire all the way from the rear of the tranny to head unit, when I could pick it up in the cab some where.
Is the speed sensor I need located on the drivers side of the transmission towards the rear? I want to make sure and use the correct sensor, does the VSS wire. Uncle split or is there 2 of them, one input sensor and one output sensor. I am figuring I need the out put sensor, Being the output gives the head unit the speed reading it needs? Or am I wrong? I've never hooked up a speed sensor wire befor. I have a 09' Ram 4x4, SXT pkg, Mega Cab and didn't hook up a VSS sensor and my Kenwood Exclron tells me how fast I am going. Or do I need to hook up the SVV/speed sensor? Sure would be gemreat if I didn't need to hook it up, Any help on this matter sure would help me out. I know there are done aces out there that really know their stereo wiring. I would appreciate any help I can get on this matter. Thanks so much.
