Hello, I have a 99 Quad Cab and funny things are happening and I am looking for some insight into what might be the problem. About a week ago I was making a right turn w/turn signal on, and as I was making the turn, the check gauges light came on as well as the chime. Lasted only for a second, now it does it at least twice a day. Same thing, during a right turn w/signal on.

Then something new happened tonight (or should I say early this morning). Driving along, headlights all of a sudden go out. Parking lights and everything else working, just no headlights. I pulled over, popped the hood to check the connections. All fine, hell I even smacked with the palm of my hand...nothing. Then all of a sudden they came back on. So I continue my way home the 26 miles from work. Driving the interstate about 10 minutes later, it happens again. Same thing, about 2-3 minutes later, come back on again. It didn't happen again, the rest of the way home.

Anybody have any insight as to what maybe going on with this to give me issues?

I would be checking the connections at the multifunction switch in the steering column.

Happened to me. When driving for about 1/2 hour with brights on, headlights would go out. There was a bad connection in the harness that plugged into the headlight switch. Some melting also.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to be making a long trip to Florida and I don't need these problems to happen while driving 2200 miles round trip

Update: While the "Check Gauges" light comes on, only the Oil Pressure gauge goes to to zero, all the other gauges are still functioning normally.

I know it sounds strange, but the check gauges light likes to come on when the battery is failing.

Hows the truck been starting as of late?

Whens the last time you checked your oil levels. I had that same problem before my plenum was fixed. And it was my motor burning off oil and getting low. So slowing down hard and or hard left turns that would happen.

Only one time it had cranked a little longer than normal, but other than that, normal starting.

Going to get an oil change this Saturday. And yes, it has been coming on now when I come to an almost complete stop. What plenum are we talking about?
