When I installed my 3 inch lift about 12 years ago I didn't use the new lower control arms that came with the kit. I have not had any issues other than the front tires wear on the outside.
My question is how difficult is it to install the new lower control arms? Can I just unbolt them one at a time and put in the new ones? Does the front axle try to rotate backwards and how do I prevent this? Lastly do I set it back to the original index mark?
Thanks for any advice.

I have a 2000 1500. I put a 2.5 leveling kit in, I used the stock 16" wheels with 35" tall tires, they are for off road, they won't unbead as easy, because they are 7" wide. Any way, my stock rims with the 35'***** my control arms if turning or off roading in a bind. SO I built my own control arms, that are off set. I installed them using the same lower alignment marks that the stock control arms were set at, then I aligned the truck, and it was off. I would install your new ones (if you already bought them). Set the marks the same as the stock ones, and then go and get it aligned. They will take less that an hour to change. Unfortunately on MY truck the hole in the frame to loosed the drivers side bolt (rear) was not drilled correctly so I had to enlarge the hole to get a socket on the bold, I would hope this was a mistake on mine only! Make sure the new control arms are able to be lubricated.

If you do not have the new ones, I think the stock ones for a 3" lift will work anyway but you will need to get the truck aligned either way. My 2.5" lift did NOT require different length control arms. I built custom ones because of the 35" tire on the stock well would hit on the stock control arms. I was able to set the alignment.

Thanks. I have the new lower control arms that came with the lift kit. I just never got around to putting them on.
