New lugnuts aren’t quite as deep on the wheel seat as the stock nuts...

Hey y’all... I’m putting my new McGard lug nuts on - 64069 and I just noticed that the cone on the new nuts isn’t quite deep and doesn’t fill up the the wheel seat cones like the stock nuts do. In other words, the bevel on the new nuts isn’t as long as the stock nuts. I don’t know if y’all can see it in the picture or not but do I need to be worried? Right where those two arrows are is where the cone or bevel stops.

I'm not sure. I would want more surface area. What do the wheels look like, as far as the bevel length. Same length as your new nuts or longer like the factory nut?

If it were my truck, I would want the new nut to fully seat in the wheel. Check out Gorilla lug nuts, I replaced mine earlier this year with black ones and they look great.

They’re the factory Limited wheels. The beveled area on the original lugnuts is pretty much the same length and depth as the reversed cone seat in the wheel. In other words, the entire beveled cone of the factory lugs fills all of the lug holes in the wheels.

As far as overall length of the entire nut - if that’s what you’re asking, my new ones are about a 1/4 inch or so longer.

I forgot to mention in my opening post that the Doorman nuts I had bought a while back from Oreiley’s......

...are about the same length as my new McGards, pretty much same length of beveled area and everything, except that the Oreily’s ones were a 3/4 hex instead of the stock 7/8,22mm hex and ended up pulling them off because I just wasn’t crazy all the sudden about the less meat on those new nuts. I did put well over 2000 miles on those this summer driving to Colorado for our vacation and even did some very light off-roading on a Jeep trail so I dont think they were a problem. They stayed nice and tight and even when I pulled them off, they didn’t show any signs of abnormal wear after all that.

Also if it matters, I don’t use my electric impact to run the nuts on, just to remove them. I pretty much run them on my hand, then tighten a little bit with a ratchet, then slowly torque them to 130 foot pounds.

I thought heavily towards those but found other users more recommended the McGards over the Gorillas.
