Hi all! I've been reading on this site this week and have learned tons of information during my research.

My problem is I'd like to have the 2013 cc Sport 4x4 V8 with 8spd, but would also take Big Horn/Lone Star as well if it has everything that I want.(I'm still researching 3.21 vs 3.55 vs 3.92, but I don't tow or pull anything but maybe 2x a year)

My question is what types of items/options/packages can most dealers add if it doesn't already exist on the truck?

For instance, do they add the bigger UConnect screen if a truck has a small one? IE can they add the Lone Star package to any truck?

Might be a dumb question, but I'm simply not finding a truck with all the features I want on the dealers lot(s). I won't be buying until 4Q, so maybe the lots will look different when the 2014's have been out a few months.

I have a Sport and for me, it's exactly what I wanted. I wanted ALL the tech, but NONE of the chrome! Honestly, a 3.55 would be fine for what you are doing with it, and I kind of wish I had them instead of the 3.92. Get what you want and DO NOT rely on the dealers. Most of them don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

I got everything but NAV and the pedals that move. I'm tall enough that I didn't see a need for the extra expense and NAV I have on my phone and can BT it to the system. I even got the "factory" sprayed in liner. IMO, I wanted to make it as easy as possible so I got as much done at the factory as possible.

You could look at the diesel too.

In my recent purchase experience, it seemed like they really want to sell you what's on the lot. There are some guys posting about the new radio spazzing out. Mine blinked out once and came back. Generally if you know what you want they can source it from another dealer. I don't think you can just order any package on any truck though. But they may have changed.

They should be able to look at a nation wide inventory with other dealers for exactly what you want. This is how I got my wifes 2013 Ford Fusion. Only two of them built in the country they way we wanted it and they wouldn't let me put in for an order at the factory.

Here is the best advice I can offer: decide what you can't live without and then hold off until late October, like the last weekdays, when the dealers are trying to move out the remaining 2013s. You save $10K just by being patient. Honestly, look at what's sitting on the lot. If you can't live with the color of what he has, or you have to have the 8 spd and he doesn't, there are usually 2-3 other dealers within 30 miles unless you are in Bum@$$ Dakota.
Warning, when you just have to have something, then you expose your weakness and they have you by the *******.

So, it sounds like you're open minded. Do you want front console or bench seat? Chrome or color match bumpers? Dual exhaust or single? Hemi or dinky 6?

Best part is you get the Motor Trend Truck of the year for 2013.

Have fun with it! And  WELCOME to RF!

I got the express with all the tow goodies i need to tow a boat had the dealer add the step rails and a spray in liner the only thing it doesn't have that I wish it did was the audio controls on the steering wheel and power fold mirrors but you cant have everything you get your best deals on what the dealer has on the lot

I love my TRX but I drive a lot, so the extra goodies were important to me. I love the Express pricing and the exterior looks, but the interior is a bit basic for my tastes. It all depends on what YOU want!

They are great trucks though!

All good advice above.
To answer your other question, dealers aren't supposed to swap equipment from one vehicle on the lot to another. But if you REALLY wanted tow mirrors, you could try and work a deal between the dealer and their parts dept to have that included, or at least discounted and mount them yourself.
You can option a Sport to include everything a Laramie has (except items such as chrome bumpers, etc. obviously) so if you find a dealer willing to work with you they should be able to find your truck built as-is somewhere.
Our dealer brought ours in from 3 hrs away at no extra charge.

You guys must be lucky, I live in the Detroit area and within 30 miles of me there were only 3 dealers that had trucks, and 2 of them wanted a arm and a leg for them. I just got lucky I work with someone who sent me to the right guy who got me a really good deal. I was going in for a express and came out with a outdoorsman. Hopefully you find something you will love.

I think most dealers will put anything you want on the truck. You want remote start...they will do it, you want the tow mirrors they will do. The difference is labor. Watch out for that extra cost. Remote start from the factory is like a $200 option but you have the dealer put it on they will charge over $400. So get it from the factory and avoid having the dealer add to the truck.

Thanks to all for the helpful information. I am scheduled to take delivery of the truck today. I think there was a check list on this forum that I can take with me to the dealer to make sure I don't miss anything.

will post pics soon(hopefully!).
