4x4 Outdoorsmans all come with a 3.92 LSD rear end and a 32 gallon fuel tank standard. They also have the front differential and transfer case skid plates and LT tires. I believe they also sit 1" higher.

If you're near snow, don't get the auto transfer case. The 1500 will be more than adequate to pull that load of sleds all day long anywhere.

I'm in Buffalo. See our fair share of snow. Was snowing today. Had enough. The auto transfer case is in the big horn correct?

never got LT tires with mine just the garbage SR-As. not sure if that's due to the 20 inch rims or not

i think all Big Horns have it for 2015 but not sure. the auto case isn't horrible if you mainly stick to pavement but it's pretty bad if you go off road at all. the problem with the auto is that in any setting it requires wheel slip to engage so there's always a delay and many have said it gets hot pretty quick when you're spinning.

I have the auto transfer case in my Tahoe Z71. Never leave it on auto. Just use the 2wd, when it's bad out I switch to 4hi. Every once in a great while I'll need the 4lo but not too often.

1 question I have is why don't any dealers in wny stock the outdoorsman. Pita to find one local.

when i was looking i only found 2 close by and i very rarely see any others on the road. most seem to stock mainly Big Horns, assuming they just sell better because they are a bit more luxury

not sure how far you are from the border but if you're fairly close and have a passport there's a few in Welland. not sure if it'd be worth buying here but you could at least look and get a test drive

We have 3 in the area relatively close. Couple more in Rochester. I figure I'll probably end up ordering. Would like to drive one before I do, but the dealer I would most likely order from doesn't have one of the three. Still stuck on the idea of buying something unseen for the most part.

yep i hate buying something unseen. one good thing about ordering is that you can fully customize what options you want. if you don't want to do a lot of running around they all drive pretty much the same so you could look for something that has the options you want and go for a drive. i believe the Outdoorsman is based on the SLT so really any SLT would work to get a feel for it

In your opinion what makes the big horn more luxury?

most of it is just exterior like more chrome and dual exhaust, 20 inch rims, power folding mirrors and side steps. on the interior you get the bigger EVIC and i believe that also has different gauges and the auto dimming mirror

there's a lot it doesn't appear to come with that the Outdoorsman has tho so really it just kinda depends what options you really want. you could get either one and just add any extras you still want so really whatever one comes standard with most of what you want is the best model to start with. 1 big plus for the Outdoorsman is the skid plates and as long as you don't want the 20 inch rims it comes stock with LT tires

Don't really want the cost of new tires with the 20's. Thanks for your insight

yeah i know the feeling. the stock 20s are garbage and being 20s it's about $350-$450 per tire depending what you want. can't wait to get rid of them and get something that doesn't break traction on the slightest bit of snow

My 17's on the Tahoe were bad enough I thought. Seems like all the ones on lots have the 20's though.

well last i looked on 2014s it was a $500 option so it's not a really expensive option and it looks like for 2015 20s are standard on a lot of the models so i guess 17s are gonna start getting hard to find

On the outdoorsman the 20's are a 1400 option.

hmm that's interesting. on the Canadian site it's $500 for the polished aluminum or $600 for the black

not bad. i'm not up to date on US pricing but seems a little bit high compared to the $42k sticker on mine. it does have a few options i don't have but considering how Canadian pricing is you should be able to get that down quite a bit.

my only real complaint is that it has the full console but that's just a personal preference. one good thing about the full console is that there's a somewhat hidden storage area that i believe can be converted to a lock box so you could keep a little cash in it or a gun if you like to carry
