Reason why I think it is going to work out is because of his other supporting mods. 4.56's, correct stall converter, ported heads, custom tune...all that combined is going to really help pull that tq together and then the cam is going to take over from there.

I think if you build a truck to the point that you invest in heads/cam and all the other mods, track times start to become important so that you have something to show for what you spent a small fortune on...haha.

See I feel like my low end now is where I am best my top end mid range is horrible until my recent mods I never really felt a second gear prime lol. I had a guy at the track today say how he was surprised how good I pulled low end but I start falling off mid to top end I mean on the streat with my mods know I can blow the tires off no problem and when I race I don't run the 35s that to expensive lol

that may be true, but thing to consider is will your truck ONLY be a track truck? if that is the case, go with a 268 or srt max get the high stall verter and run it WOT, if it is your daily driver though, and you tow off go off road, go with something that tips off around the 5700-6000rpm range and gets into the powerband much lower in the rpm range. Do some reading and see what all the bigger/ heavier 4x4's are running, you won't find many with a top end cam.

you can build a great truck that runs awesome down the track but like **** on the road during day to day driving though. All I am saying is there are better suitable cams out there that will still give him the low track times and still be far more enjoyable during day to day driving without giving anything up.

BTW I have a 2800 stall in mine with my 268, it works nice but could definitely use a little more.

Do you do anything off-road?

I asked him that a few weeks ago, and he said the truck is a pavement princess now. You can only break so many parts offroad before you realize its not what the half tons were built for...haha.

Naw not really only time I really went offroad was to go out to fires and or pull buddy's out but I'm done with all that truck has to much money in it to be out there tearing it up so are you say 3000 stall would be better?

3000 stall would be best for performance, but it can cause some trouble while towing as it builds more heat. The Edge converters are built very efficient though, so I don't see it being a problem for the light boat you pull. I will talk to the owner of Edge about your setup to see what he recommends. Because I know you are getting big into the drag racing, I think the 2800-3000 would be perfect. Worst case, we can do a 2800 and just throw a 50 shot of giggle juice on there...haha.

I just look at those situations as a reason to upgrade...haha. It can be a very expensive hobby because you are never fast enough. As soon as you hit your goal, you set a new one and have to spend another $2000.

Lol ^ I know what you mean I went from the 16s to 15s to 14s now I want 13s and I would take the lift off my truck right know but the zone bl requires you to cut your frame to put the new bumper brackets in and I could cut a weld that section back on but I don't want to get into all that I don't want to be be the fastest just shut all these Titan and Tundra boys up around town and alljackedupram about his chevrolets lol

Cough cough broke piston, replaced and changed cam out again, 1 year later sent 2 rods sailing through my block. I'm the poster child for breaking them.

^It ended up being good I broke it, but damn I wont expecting to drop that kinda money that quick. Like Matt said its an addiction, the same track has killed my truck twice and knock on wood I havent hurt it on pavement but sand is not its friend.
