Google turning off the seat belt reminder, there is a process you do and once you do it the seat belt reminder is off until you do the procedure again

Unfortunately this doesn't stop the chime from beeping off 5 times when you start the car without your seatbelt on. And that is the only thing I want to disable.

That's odd, IIRC, that tweak fixed the nanny ding completely on both front seats on my truck.
Zero ding factor, just a nanny light.

The only thing I dislike about that fix is that the EVIC is still monopolized with a large red warning for a short period, while I might prefer to be checking something else.

I'm headed out shortly, I'll pop my seatbelt extender out and confirm. Then again, your truck may respond differently than mine.

I was working with AlphaOBD yesterday, turns out the Autopark feature shows in the list. I did not try to disable it, the seat belt extender works fine for that while the engine is running and disabling it completely would also disable the move it to park with engine off feature when you open the door and left it in drive or neutral. Never actually done that but I see no downside to this feature.

My bet however is that this function can be completely turned off for those that really hate it. If you turn it off, remember to turn it back on before you sell the truck. That is not a change that a new user should inherit..

I would just like to back up with my tailgate down without it stopping the truck.

This is from a post from this very site by Sherman Bird. There are lots of others who have posted this as well as a ton of YouTube on it. In point of fact, if you had read the very first page of this actual thread you would have found this exact information. I generally won't look stuff up for guys, it really isn't that hard to search this forum. This is a one time pass cause you are new. ;)

Seat belt turnoff:
1. With all doors closed and the ignition switch in the off position buckle the driver’s seat belt.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and wait for the Seat Belt Warning Light, and the other start up lights to turn off.
3. Within 60 seconds of turning the ignition switch to the
ON position, unbuckle and then re-buckle the driver’s
seat belt at least three times within 10 seconds, ending
with the seat belt buckled.
NOTE: Watch for the Seat Belt Warning
Light to turn on
while unbuckling and off while re-buckling the seat belt.
It may be necessary to retract the seat belt.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position. A
single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully
completed the programming.

The Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) can be reactivated
by repeating this procedure.

This gets rid of the Ding but you still get the warning on the EVIC. A seat belt extender will get rid of both.
Thanks for posting this procedure. My wife is very impatient and unbuckles before stopping then gets pissed at the chime. This spares my ears on two fronts.

For:
-Disable exterior back light from turning on @unlock and @Lock
-Disable dashboard lights from turning on @unlock and @door open

These were big problems for me at night when camping--blinds everyone including me. I removed the bulb for the bed light but never found a solution for the dash lights.
I think with AlfaOBD you can set it to "police mode" which will allow turning off interior lights and approach lights. But I don't remember 100% what all it changes.

I too have no love for the autopark feature and I have learned (unintentionally) that it is turned off when in 4 Wheel Drive Low range - Which is no bother at all to me when lining up a ball hitch with the tailgate and its camera off the truck. The seatbelt extender I bought doesn't unlatch smoothly so I prefer this method.

I went in to the dealership service department with the following list of modifications and they said they wouldn't do any of it because it was safety related. Do you guys think an independent shop would do this stuff for me? If it's even possible. (yes I have OCD)

-Disable seat belt not plugged in chirp
-Disable exterior back light from turning on @unlock and @Lock
-Disable dashboard lights from turning on @unlock and @door open
-Disable tire pressure sensors
-Disable turn signal clicking noise
-Lower volume of the warning indicator beep (or disable entirely)
-Set console and dashboard screens to 'screen off' mode by default
Not if they value their liability insurance!

I worked at an independent in 2002.... for a short 3 months.
While I was there, they brought me a work order on a 1993 Lincoln Town Car. The customer wanted the airbags disabled. Yeah, sure, right.

I refused, they said I had a bad attitude, and after my 3 month "trial" period ended, I was shown the door.

In order to "legally" disable airbags, a medical declaration must be tendered to the NHTSA along with an application and a fee. Back then, the fee was 65 dollars. The car's owner had the kind of heart surgery where the doctors split the sternum and put it back together afterwards using medical grade stainless wire.

This could prove fatal in the event of air bag deployment... That is a legit point.

But, being who I am, I actually got in contact with the aforementioned federal agency.

IF they approve, they enter the VIN into some database (I don't remember which), then they issue 2 large neon red sticky decals to be placed over the airbags that no longer work. The biggest liability is that if someone ELSE drives the car without knowledge of the airbags being disabled.... there's the big catch!

But these morons running this shop just wanted me to pull the fuse.... said they "do it all the time".

This is odd.... Mine says "Auto Park Present: NO" and it will go to park automatically when ever door opens. PITA.....

I defeated the seatbelt dinger and the AutoPark feature by installing a seatbelt extender.
This was sufficient when backing up with the driver's door open on my '21 Warlock.

Later, using AlfaOBD, I found that the OE setting for AutoPark Present was set to 'Yes' and changed it to 'No'.

I haven't bothered to test the functionality of the AutoPark Present because it wasn't an issue with the seatbelt extender, and I can count on one hand the number of times I've backed up with the door open.

Now, I'm curious and may test with and without the setting enabled using AlfaOBD.

BTW, this thread is more than 2 years old, having been revived again yesterday.

Odd timing that exactly after this thread was revived my ram (which had no issues since I bought it) has been giving me problems... I blame the person that revived the thread!

To follow up, I bought that extender and it worked perfect. Bought another one for the passenger seat too. I also was able to stop the lights from turning on @unlock and door open with the uconnect and with the scroll wheel on the light control module thing below and to the left of the steering wheel. I guess the other annoyances were a result of me not being used to it because now I'm not bothered by the turn signal and the rear light or tpms sensors or the screens being always on.

Just found way to disable seat belt chime. Made the AlfaOBD change on my truck as a test and it worked.

Turn off seat belt unfastened chime:

Function: Instrument Panel; Program customer features: Seat Belt Alert System: Change to Disabled

The only warning feature that really freaks me out is the blind spot monitor. I have found the setting in unconnect. “On, light and chimes, “ on, lights only”
All I want to do is turn the bleeding thing DOWN! Indicator on to turn, two lane road and it freaks me out! I know some one is on my inside turning, thanks for reminder but so it at a reasonable level.
Am I missing how to dial this down?
I’ve asked this before…….maybe someone knows without it involving a computer and hook up from the NSA!
