Just wanted to get some opinions. I picked up my new Ram 1500 Sport on Monday. There is a tiny little chip on the drivers door that the dealer is going to fix next week. They did a pretty crappy job of cleaning it up for delivery and I just noticed the chip yesterday while washing it for the first time.

I also noticed there is a 2" scuff (very minor but still bugs me) on the leather wrapped dash all the way on the passenger side. I tried cleaning it but it still remains. If they can't get it out, can I insist they replace it? Or is that not gonna happen? I don't think a brand new truck should have any imperfections, maybe I'm just picky...

Try a black China marking pencil. We color in imperfections on our seats if we can.

Make them fix it. I don't understand why someone signs for and takes possession of such an expensive item without looking it over good first. I would make them fix ANY imperfection I found prior to driving it off the lot. Once you do it becomes that much harder to get fixed.

The only reason I regret buying used were a couple scratches that could have been fixed on a new truck.

WARNING: Be very careful about "killing them in the survey" as that will most likely come back to bite you in the butt.
I did that once when I bought a new.."ehem" (clears throat) Ford and the service manager made sure I paid for doing so. After he'd royally shafted me on a obvious warranty item I asked him why he did it and he said "you screwed us on the survey so we lost bonus money, I just made sure to return the favor".
So, while it's tempting and your absolute right to tell the truth the dealers are in control of how you're treated by warranty etc.

Do you trust them to replace any interior panels and not cause even more damage to surrounding plastic? I had this issue with my Challenger, and I had the dealer provide the replacement interior pieces and I installed them myself. Figured it was the only way it wouldn't come back in worse condition than before. With that said...I have no idea how difficult it is to replace the leather top portion of the dash.
