Curious... mechanically what's the difference between the "R/T" and, say, an Express with Hemi, 3.92 and limited slip?

To my knowledge, 4.10 gear, a little higher stall converter, a little more dressed up interior (leather seats) and 22 inch wheels. Maybe someone else knows of something I'm not thinking of.

The RT got 4.10s with the six speed, have not seen a 4.10 8 speed, most have 3.92s. They could exist, just not certain.

The 8 speed RTs, in the RC SB also got the infamous 2 piece drive shaft that comes apart

To my knowledge 4.10 rear is not an option with the 8-speed, 3.92 is a good as it gets. The difference between 4.10 and 3.92 is pretty minimal to start with.

Didn't know what else was on the R/T models as far as other go-fast bits or if it was primarily an appearance package since the OP claims his has the "stock" 3.92 rear end.

I was looking on ordering a new express but certain things I can’t currently order are why I looked for the R/T. Leather trimmed sport seats, 22” forged wheels, I think I read that not all Rams have the rear sway bar but I could be wrong. This particular example already had tasteful upgrades, and was fully optioned also helped sway the decision. Also while they’re not LED, the front projectors are specific to the sport models.

You can take a vehicle and add badges and add all the different goodies to make it equal to the R/T in performance and looks. Even back in the day I've seen guys make a Satellite into a Road Runner or a GTX and Chargers into Charger R/T's and so on... but at the end of the day no matter if it is just small differences the serial numbers tell the tale and that will make a difference in the values in years to come. I doubt I will live long enough to see the difference in the value of these R/T's but I'm sure back in the late 60's early 70's no one had a clue the difference in the value of a Charger R/T versus a Charger SE. Also, not that I'm comparing but they made less 2012 Ram 1500 R/T's than they made 1970 Plymouth Superbirds. I'm not sure of the number of other year model Ram R/T's, maybe a little more or a little less each year but still not many.

Oh I'm not looking to make a "clone" or anything. Just curious if there was anything unique performance-wise to the R/T vs another model with the right options.

I'm sorry if I sounded like that, I was just making a general statement. Lol
