I currently work at Beaman CDJR Fiat in Murfreesboro, TN. I am new to selling vehicles, and I am trying to learn as much as I can about RAMs to be able to better assist my customers when they are buying from me. Anything y'all can do to help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to be different than other salesman, and I'm trying to explore every avenue possible to make my customers as happy as possible with me. Salesman have a bad name, and are often seen as snakes. I don't want to be like that.

Thanks for the help,
Matt

Don’t LIE!!!
Go out of your way to make the purchase easy.
Immediately after the sale walk your customer to each department and introduce them to the department manager.
When you see a customer that you sold a vehicle too. Go say hello.
The goal is be a friend before and after the sale.
Some deals are hard to put together.
But be straight up with the customer.

Know the product like the back of your hand! Especially trucks and the Challenger and Charger. People who buy these products are generally experts on those vehicles well before they ever get around to the point of buying one. Before I buy a vehicle I've already thoroughly researched it and in most cases know way more about the vehicle than the salesman does. It will definitely improve your sales if you're an expert on what you're selling. You might be able to ******** your way through it with a lot of folks you just never know who that is sometimes until its too late. Most people hate car salesman and lawyers. You can be the exception! Not trying to mean I just believe in telling it like it is. Good luck.

Get out of New Car Sales and get into Used Car Sales.
Forget learning about the Vehicle.
It's got Wheels, Doors, Roof, and a Windshield.
Learn How To Sell.

You doing this make Money or Friends?
If Friends, join the Clergy.

This Path you are attempting will lead to Starvation or Dismissal for not breaking Guarantee.

You pay Yourself.
If you do not sell enough, to pay yourself, the dealer will fire you because he sure as heck is not going to pay you to NOT sell Cars.

Always ask for the Sale.
What are they going to do? Say No. You don;t have their money anyway.
Cant walk up and take a strangers money,
you got to ask them, so ask them, dammit.

Be Polite, to the extreme.
Pay attention to the Woman.
listen to what she says and respond to it, to her complete satisfaction.
If you do Close the Deal, on the Spot, she will have a say in it. If you close the deal tomorrow, she will have an even bigger say in it.
Sell the car, TODAY.

Never count on the Be Back Bus.
They might Be Back, someday, but only after they have shopped all your profit away.

Be Honest
BE Polite
Be Helpful
Be Considerate

Pay attention to Personal Grooming.
How Fat, Ugly, Short, Tall, Handsome really has little to do with it beyond the first Hello.

Never be afraid to ask for more, you might get it
NEVER stop anyone from giving you money.
If they want to give you money, take it, graciously.

There is no better "Bird Dog" than someone who has purchased from you.
NEVER let a customer bring his car into the Service Dept. for routine maintenance or Warranty Work.
You go get the car and take it back, once done. TO HIS PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT.
Every single one of his CO-workers is going to wonder who you are, then be envious no one has ever done that, for them.

Those are your most desirable Customer.
They walk in the door trusting you will treat them Right. Do so.
Make money, of course, but treat them fairly.
Save them hours off the 3 Ring Circus.
One Price Shopping, No Dicker Sticker, etc work because Most Folks do NOT want to be forced into the whole how much can I get from you routine.
They wanted to be treated Fairly, with Integrity and are more than willing to pay for such.

They guy who is only concerned for Price, who spends days, weeks , months getting every last penny discounted off the Selling Price will be the biggest pain in your **** for All Eternity.
Like a Bi-Polar, Homicidal Raging Beautiful WOman, it just ain't worth, it,. no matter how good it looks.
Walk Away, Grass Hopper, Walk Away.
Let the New Guy have that Customer and you go sell 4 cars while he screws with that guy....for the Minimum Commision

Learn how much is every on Used Car, Exactly.
Get to be friends with your Manager, most of them are weak, lazy or vain and easily manipulated.
If they weren't, they would still be in sales making money instead of trading away hours of their Life for a steady Paycheck.
Who do you think is easier to manipulate, some Coustomer you just met or your Boss who have gotten to know.
Know the profit margins and work the Boss once you have daylight and cannot get the Customer to raise his Numbers any higher.

you can replace the car, you cannot replace the customer.
Sold Cars do not matter.
DELIVERED cars are all that pays you.

Do not bother with any Clergy, Ever.
Pawn them off on others.
They all have bad credit, cannot get financed and lie to your face.

Never ignore a Farmer or Asian.
They both have cash.

Take your F&I guy out to lunch and laugh at his jokes.
You can sell 100 cars a day but unless they have cash, you need the F&I guy.

Always work payment, never selling price.
Break down any difference into the Realm of the Ridiculous.
$100 a month difference n payments?
That's a Soda a day. You going to lose out on this car for a soda pop a day?
A SODA?

Don't waste time with the pencil pushing, slide rule using, Retarded Nerd.
Be polite but simply tell him that is not going to work, you do not want to waste his time
and you sure as hell do not want to waste yours. Regardless of what he may Heard, Read, Googled or came to him in a Dream.
You'll be surprised what you can say, when you do it with Kindness and a Smile.

EVERYONE HAS A PINCH OF SELF DOUBT
For most, it's far more than a Pinch.

I don;t care who, they have never bought as many cars as the successful Salesman has sold.
The Salesman knows More and knows how it is done, better. And the other guy knows it.
That's what scares him so much.

Always pay yourself, FIRST.
Everyone else gets paid, after you pay yourself.

Put your paycheck into one account.
Draw a smaller, set amount out, every payday, and place it into another account.
Start off with whatever you made at your old job.
That should be enough to cover your current Debt.
The 2nd account is your pay the bills and live account.
Once you start making more money, resist the temptation to spend it.
Keep it in the first account.
Save it for the Slow Times because they are coming.
After a eyar or so, then you can re-evaluate and see ab out giving yourself a slight Raise.
Doubtful. Once you start accumulating money, it hurts to spend it. BUt when you do spend it, spend it ONCE. Buy QUality. Don;t be a tightass who ends up spending it 10 times over in junk.

Never EVER sell to your friends or family.
When you start out, all you do is allow your Boss to **** them.
When you know what you are doing, you give it away. then once it breaks , they expect you to fix it.
Tell them Dealership Rules, whatever.
Just don;t do it...unless you got enough money to pay for all their repairs for Eternity.

Pay attention to the average of the folks who also do what you do.
Pay attention to how long they have been working AT THAT DEALERSHIP.
You will figure out the WHY eventually.

Don't get smart ass with Old Used Car Guys.
Learn, Let them pick on you, get them to like you.
they forgot far more than you will know.
Good one does nothing but ferry cars all day.
Most of his sales come in to the dealership, only for delivery.

Never forget you are at that place to earn Money.
Not make friends, not sit around an BS, Text or play with your phone but to make money.
Make it then go home and do all that other stuff.
When you are at work, you are At Work. Make Money.
if you not making money, then leave.
Get your head right, then come back and Make Some Damn Money.
Work is not supposed to be Fun, Easy or Enjoyable.
It's called Work, for a reason.

Even if you love your Work, it is still Work, so make some damn money

Don't bs me.

Don't give me the whole "how much do you want to pay per month and we'll make it happen" line.

Don't dangle a price in front of me and then when I agree to it, give me a line about how that price included a "coupon" that was available only for the next sale but someone else used it for their sale before mine.

Realize that my time is valuable enough that if you move a little closer to the price i want to pay without excuses, back and forth, phone calls, "let me check with the sales manager", etc...I willing actually be willing to pay a little more than my target price just because of the convenience and honesty.

Just from prior experience of buying new cars, turn the dealership you work at to use the Honda, Acura, Lexus, Infiniti sales model. Drop the 4 square and 1950s sales tactics and just be honest and up front. Customers are smart enough nowadays to see through all of that and any sales person trying to push it is just doing themselves a disservice.

Thank you all for the input. It has been very helpful.

My dealership sells new and used. I just got out of training a week and half ago. So far I've sold 3.5 cars [.5= splitting the deal with another salesman]. I've tried setting myself apart with everything I do.

I answer all questions that are asked of me, and be as transparent as possible. Even if the answer is that, "I don't know, but I will find out for you." I explain the whole process that they are going to go through. Tell them to ask any questions when they feel the need. I try to lighten the air immediately, to help them relax a little. Earlier today I was telling a joke about hiding bodies in the trunk, the mom started laughing and said maybe I will get some peace and quiet then. After that, the couple lightened up tremendously.

I keep the customers laughing all the way through delivery. Then afterwards, I carve them something made out of wood. Like if they buy a RAM, I will make them a wood carving of the RAM symbol and mail it to them with a hand written thank you letter.

My first sale was 2019 Grand Cherokee to a woman who wanted a "hot mom" car. I sent her a carving of the front face plate of a Jeep. She called me two days ago, and was going on and on about how sweet it was and how her friends at work absolutely loved it.

I really like the idea of delivering the vehicle to the persons work, for service. If they live in town, I don't think that will be a problem at all.

I've been taking tests in my spare time to become Uconnect Pro certified/ RAM Pro certified/ Jeep Pro certified. I have been in front of those customers who have just baffled me with the amount of information that they knew. I want to learn as much as I can to help as much as I can.

Even for customers who can't buy a vehicle, because of bad credit or lack of money. I try to help them. It takes 5-7 minutes of my time, but makes the world of difference to them. I will sit them down, and show them a simple budget to follow to help save money. Show them a few ways to make extra money on the side. Explain a few things about paying off credit, which usually ties back in to making extra money. I am 90% certain that nobody else is doing that. So they will definitely come back to me because I tried to help rather than, "well let us know when you get some money," or, "have you found a co-signer?"

So far I've only had 3 customers I had to do this with, but they were all so grateful.

I can tell you, that my Salesman (Phillip Wood) at Woody Folsom CDJR in Baxley GA will always get first shot at my business.

I purchased my wife a 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn Sport. Got the price I wanted and they gave the trade in I wanted on her 2016 2500 Chevy Silverado. Called several days after the sale to make sure Momma was happy with her Truck.

I had purchased a 2015 Ford Focus ST for my son prior to the Ram purchase. NO BS, straight talk and got me exactly what I wanted. Phil is a helluva a good guy. Asked me if the Boy (whose currently attending Navy Bootcamp) was happy with the car. Yeah, he's happy, just can't drive it right now!!!LOL!

His dealership is multi brand, and will be allocated one of the last 2020 C8 Corvettes. I may or may not trade in my current car for it.

Not that everybody doesn't have something great to add, unfortunately if you want to make a nice living selling vehicles, you have to do pretty much word for word what gofishn posted above. It's about being a sales person, not a "car person".

It's got very little to do with knowing everything there is to know about a particular make/model/option package.
