Hello all,
I just got my first dodge with a 5.9 magnum and was wondering about swapping out the 360 for something bigger that's plug n play. Do I need to change transmission? Seen something about a 408? Just looking for more snort in the low end. .any suggestions? It's a 1999 Laramie Slt.

408 is a 360 with a longer stroke. Tune-up and making sure it's mechanically sound is the best starting point. From there a set of longtube headers and a tune from FRP are the 2 biggest bangs for the buck.

Depending on your current gears, regearing the axle can make a world of difference. That actually takes stress off of the transmission as well. If you are thinking of doing major performance upgrades to the engine, I’d plan on upgrading the transmission.
