Owners manual says oil changes every 15,000 miles? Say what? Is this true?
Also , synthetic oil ok?( my ford costs me 5k for repairs due to using synthetic!!!). Just looking for some experienced intel.. thanks in advance!

Congrats and welcome. No doubt Syn will be along and be able to answer your questions. If you have time, you could read some of his posts in the synthetic oil thread. He is running a fairly new cummins.

Explain how synthetic caused an issue with your f250. So yes rotella and delvac are the two most popular diesel oils. They took most of the sulfur out of diesel while back, so chosing good lubrication is a good idea, you can also look into diesel treatments that go into the fuel to replace the way sulfur used to lubricate diesels. Look at voa's and uoa's, I do believe one of those engine oils has more moly then the other, maybe you want to look at that. Filtration is huge with diesels, synthetic media filters should be required, I know syn has a great filter option for you. Maybe some day upgrade to a bypass unit as well. If you are considering additives check with syn thread, read your owners manual, and register with tdr.

Yes 15k miles should be ok with a synthetic fiber filter, and don't worry about the color of the oil, it will be black, but the labs all say with diesel the oil is still good.
