Hey everyone, I just bought my first ram which is a 2016 2wd crew cab, big horn 5.7 hemi. All I've ever driven prior to this were 1999-2006 GM trucks. I'm looking into replacing the headlights with LED bulbs and would love some guidance on if there is any hyper flash issue once you replace the factory 3157 turn signal bulbs with LED? I know this was a common problem that GM had that was an easy fix with the purchase of an LED relay. I'd also love to know if ZDATT 9005 is compatible for the low beam, I understand fitting the bulb into the housing is tricky and makes it difficult for some bulbs to fit in the housing. On another page I also am interested in lifting the truck, I know rough country makes a kit but are there any underlying issues I should look out for when lifting these trucks? I know angles and such are important but is there any drive shaft drop or specific parts that wear once lifted I should look out for? thanks to anyone who can help answer some of these questions, I hope to learn as much as I can reading this forum!

You are going to get a lot of answers to what brand of LED bulbs you should use. With the CANBUS system in these trucks is finicky with LED bulbs. There is an app called AlfaOBD that you can use to change the settings in Body Control Module (BCM) to change the settings to LED. There is a whole thread about AlfaOBD. You need the OBDLink MX: https://www.amazon.com/OBDLink-Bluetooth-Professional-Grade-Diagnostic-Performance/dp/B07JFRFJG6/ref=sr_1_1?crid=GMYJ8DTIGHAG&keywords=obdlink+mx+bt&qid=1644243056&sprefix=OBDlink+MX,aps,118&sr=8-1 to work with the AlfaOBD app.

That way you won't have to use resistors with the bulbs (3157's). Most of the higher quality bulbs with the drivers usually are CANBUS compatible.

I know the preferred level kit is the Bilstein 5100 series shocks for the level on the front. I think they are the same for the 2WD as they are for the 4WD's.

There's some very knowledgeable folks here that have done lifts with other kits so I can't speak to that. I think Rough Country is low on the list for lift kits....

The Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0 LED bulbs are really cool and provide cooling for the LED by circulating the air in through LED chip housing to the fan and blows the heated air back into the housing to the front lens to heat up the housing to keep ice build up off. Really cool design. I haven't tried them, looking to get a set of 9007's for the 05 Dodge Ram I have to see how they do.

thanks so much for making some sense of the LED issue, does this scanner just plug into the computer port on the truck? and is there a suggested app to work with the scanner?
