Wanted to post up on the new wheels and tires i just had put on my son's 2017 Ram 1500. He needed new rubber in a bad way and since he's a real good kid and his grades are awesome I decided to upgrade his wheels too.

THese are Cooper ST Maxx in 295/70/17 on Method MR304 Double Standard wheels. Truck is stock with no level or lift. No rubbing at all and have about 1" of clearance at full lock. The truck looks really good and was nervous they would be too stuffed looking for my liking and lots of rubbing. I'm big fan of more rubber and less wheel. Anyways, wanted to share plus I'm a pic *****.

Looks great, really well done! Was it a surprise or did he know what you were up to?

BTW, I'm doing really well at work if you're looking to spread the rewards around? :happy175:

Love the wheels, just wish they would offer a 10 inch wide option.

Actually, you are so right. He's a good kid and doing real well with distance learing even though he hates it. We even flew out of state to take the ACT tests. THis was necessary to get the academic scholarships he as received so far from the Universities he's applied to. Enough to pay for one full year of college so far. Now, maybe some athletic scholarships.

The tires he knew and the wheels were a surprise. The factory Laramie 20" plastic chit were terrible so that was a helpful incentive too. We all appreciate you doing well at work. Your WIfe will appreciate it for sure.

Love the wheels/tire combo. If it was my truck I'll also remove the steps. Much cleaner adventure look.

Your son is a lucky lad for sure.

It looks awesome! I love the look of the 17s. One of my favorite features of my lowly 2019 classic SLT is the 17" wheels. I think they offer a softer ride, are better in inclement weather and the tires lasts longer.

That has ben the debate in my head all along. I actually need to ask my son if he uses the steps. I know i use them when i drive the truck but iu'm old, so there's that. I know they look better without them but can appreciate their use. We'll see what he chooses.

I guess lucky is a way to look at it. I've gotten a hard time on this site and on other treads and other locations because his Mom and I bought him a nice truck. Well, he is our only child, he had great grades including taking two AP classes despide not needing them as he already has been accepted to the colleges of his choice and he has done a fantasitc job with working out and becoming an excellent football teammate. We are blessed to be able to show our apprecitation for his hard work.

Very nice looking truck! I love how those rims look! And congrats to you for believing in your son. Having supporting parents is a true blessing - and I'm sure the reward for you a parent for having such a great son is beyond description.
