You laugh, but that's the idea. I spend a fair bit of time driving distances on dirt roads, forest service roads, etc. It's set up to handle rough stuff at speed. (That's how I hit the elk...)

I don't disagree. Insurance paid for this one. It's pretty damn beefy though, and I like the fit a lot better than the plate bumper I had on before.
