Or did I just buy something not as good as the ones you all talk about?? Seen another thing about making sure the sensor was in exact position and restarting something? Ahhhh I know newb right? Sorry... Im going to order headers next and exhaust and was looking at the edge tuner.. Anything you guys can clarify for me on what to not do or what to do would be great.. Was looking at the bbk shorties?? as for exhaust.... well... x pipe is all Ive been told... anyway... any input is apreciated.

I had the AEM CAI on my truck and only got rid of it because I got ahold of a BFI intake. For the most part all CAI are the same. Don't worry too much about the brand.

^^^This. Most CAI's are pretty much a tube with a better air filter at the end. Not much difference in them truthfully. I would get the tuner first. I prefer the Diablo tuners from DiabloSport Power: DiabloSport Power Programmers & Tuners SALE! I have one for each of 3 rams in the family (about to be 4 rams looking at a new one).

ANd :welcome: to the forums.

04 5.7 get a superchips tuner. You will want to have trans control and they offer it. Once you are able to adjust shift points and TM you will be glad you didn't buy one of the other tuners.

If you intend to go deep in it, get the diablo, then you'll be able to custom tune. If you're sticking with bolt-ons, then get the superchips.

Nah, get the superchips to start and then when you go deeper stack on a SCT with custom tuning. Diablo with no trans control is not where you want to go with an 04. Been there, done that.

This all depends on the direction you take your truck. I needed custom tuning to go with my cam. If I had a super chips I wouldn't be able to run the cam I have. I personally recommend Diablo for its custom tuning abilities but to each his own.

Hence the reason I said stack an SCT custom tune on top of the sc trans tune. Then you get trans control as well as the ability to custom tune. I have been running it like this for years with my cam and it works great. Tried with diablo but the stock shifting sucks. Couldn't stand driving my truck when it shifts soft like a marshmallow. But like you said, to each their own. I'll stick with being able to control both my trans and engine tune.

I was under the impression that only Diablo did custom tuning. You're the first person who is hinting differently. I thought SCT didn't do custom tuning for our trucks. But if they do, why don't more people run it that way?

Sean does the custom tune for me through the SCT. Then I load it on top of the sc trans tune. Not sure why others don't do it this way. Personally I think people are nervous about stacking two tunes on top of each other but it has always worked for me.

04 that lacks tcm options so loaded sc3815 91 octane with maxed out settings then stacked my custom sct custome tune from Sean. Mosty done by early 04 owners.

Oh I see. That makes sense. I've heard of stacking tunes before but didn't realize it was with an SCT tuner. I may decide to try this out eventually. Once ive done a few other things to the truck and have the funds again. Does it work on all 04's? Or is it specific to early or late 04's?
