I realize there is a lot of info here for my request and I have been sorting through it, it's just overwhelming and I am unsure of some things and hoping someone can give me some friendly help. I have a 2015 1500 with black wheels that I would like to put some new tires on. I had factory and I have a friend that has a 2013 that had kuhmo 33x12.5x20 that I ended up putting on my truck and its time to say good bye to them (they're shot as the owner prior to him seems never rotated them). I want larger than factory and up to the size that i have now (kuhmos) but somewhere in between ideally. The truck has a 2" leveling kit installed and I would like all season tires but something that is beefy enough to look good (i understand this is an objective term). I am new to tire sizing and can't find good help on what would fit well and not eat gas mileage. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you in advance everyone!

Anywhere between factory and a 33" isn't going to affect mpg to bad unless you go with a beefy m/t. Even then, it won't be that bad.

What I am realizing now that I have been reading some is that the factory tire and the kuhmo that I have now are the same size but the kuhmo that I have is a m/t and the gas mileage went from ~18 down to about ~14 which isnt too bad like you said and I am used to it now. So if I wanted to go went step up from factory would it be 275/65 or 285/60 or both 285/65?

Probably look at something around 285/65 ,295/65. However, each tire is going to be slightly different (height/width) depending on tread etc. Look at manufacturers specs for exact measurements.

One thing to remember is that the M/T tires will be a bit heavier than an A/T treaded tire. Additional weight will have some impact on MPG.

Additional width beyond stock size will also affect MPG.

Your best bet is to go a bit wider than stock and, unless you really need an off-road mud & snow traction tire, go with a hwy tread.

also keep in mind, the larger you go in diameter you then start needing to level the front to prevent rubbing.

*****Nevermind, just read your post entirely and see that you have a leveling kit

Thank you all for the advice. I think I want an all terrain tire as a bit of my driving is done off of the highway but there is a descent amount on highway still. I want to be on the side of effective but still have a beefy look. Part of me is thinking factory size and going with Nitto Terra Grappler G2s, BFG KO2s, or Duratracs

3 good choices there. Also look into the nitto ridge grappler, it's a new release from nitto and is a hybrid much like he duratrac. I believe it will fit right into the runnings with the 3 you've already listed.

If you are staying with the stock 20" wheels I would personally recommend a 285/65/20 or 275/65/20. Both of those are going to give you a bit more height without adding much or any width over the factory 275/60. The less width you add the less rolling resistance which in turn leads to less mpg loss. More height can help you increase mileage by reducing the amount of revolutions needed to take you the same distance as the stock size tire. Unfortunately with that said you have to factor in weight of the new tires vs what you have already and the heaviness of your right foot.

Most of us aren't to terribly worried about economy and are more worried about our trucks appearance. But a balance can be had lol.

I don't think you would be disappointed with any of the tires and I believe they are all going to be very close in tread wear and performance. You will just have to look at lots of pictures of trucks with the different brands and sizes of tires to decide what you personally like best.

What size did you end up going with?

I went with the 275/65's
The 285/65's I just could not justify enough to myself. For the additional ~90/tire just was not worth it for me/my wallet

I understand completely. Well post pictures when you get them mounted. It will be a while before I can afford new tires so I'm still trying to decide what I like best.
